If you are already logged in with another account, then first select 'Log Out [Account name]...' from under the Apple Menu at the far left of the top menu bar.
Open the System Preferences application. This program is located by default in your Applications folder, but you may have moved it somewhere else. The appearence of the icon varies depending on what version of Mac OS you are using. In Mac OS 10.5, its icon looks like three gears in a silver-colored box, but in earlier versions of Mac OS X it may look like a light switch.
Select 'Accounts' in the System section. The Accounts icon looks like the silhouettes of two people, and is usually at the beginning of the fourth row of icons, under the 'System' header. Click on the icon.
Select the administrator account from the list on the left of the Accounts window. Administrator accounts say 'Admin' under the account name. Change the administrator status of an account by checking or unchecking the 'Allow user to administer this computer' box. If there is only one account, it will have administrator privileges by default.

Can an iPad Read Out Loud? (6 Steps)

Tap the 'Settings' icon on your iPad's Home screen. Tap 'General' and then 'Accessibility.'
Tap 'VoiceOver' in the Vision section. Tap the button on the VoiceOver line to activate it -- the slider button should move across and its background should now be green. You'll also hear an audio message telling you that VoiceOver is on.
Tap 'VoiceOver Practice' to open a page where you can try out gestures. When you tap or swipe on the page, VoiceOver tells you how the gesture works. For example, one tap will select an item and two taps are the start and stop functions. If you tap an app or a button, VoiceOver tells you what it is; if you then tap it twice, it will open. You can find a full list of gestures in Apple's iPad User Guide. When you have tried this out, tap 'Done' and then double tap to return to the menu.
Tap the 'Speaking Rate' button to change the speed of speech, if you find the default rate too slow or too fast. Swipe up to increase speed or swipe down to decrease it. You can also activate or deactivate other VoiceOver features in this menu, such as Pitch Change, Sound Effects and Languages & Dialects.
Select and double tap the 'Rotor' button. You'll use the rotor to control and change settings as you navigate around your iPad. Tap on an item to select it and then double tap to add or remove it. If you don't want to make any changes at this stage, leave the default list as it is.
Press the 'Home' button to return to the Home screen. Open a Web page or an email to test the Rotor. It works like a dial: Put two fingers on the screen and rotate them to open it. Move your fingers in a circular motion to move through the settings. If you want to change a setting, swipe up or down.

How to Block and Unblock Internet Sites (On a Mac)

DECIDE WHAT YOUR GOAL REALLY IS IN BLOCKING SITES.Be clear about this up front so you can find the best solution. Is this blocking for you? Is it for your kids? Is it to keep employees off of certain sites? Answer these questions first before stabbing in the blocking-sites-darkness.To block certain types of sites for all users on a computer or system - use OpenDNS.com, see step 2.
To block specific sites one at a time use the terminal command in Step 3.
To log (rather than block) specific sites use covenanteyes.com see Step 4.
To only ALLOW certain sites use the parental controls option, see Step 5.
USE FREE OPEN DNS TO BLOCK CERTAIN TYPES OF SITES FOR ALL USERS.This is a great option for small businesses or households with agreed upon and uniform standards for internet usage. See the resource section for a link. Go to the site (see resource link near the bottom of this page). Click on the 'start using open dns' button. Choose whether you want the blocking to occur at the computer level, the router level, or the server level. Follow the step by step instructions. They have pictures... it really is simple. Best of all, it is FREE!
TO BLOCK SPECIFIC SITES USE THE TERMINAL COMMAND IN MACOSX TO BLOCK THEM ONE AT A TIME.Few people really want to block only one or two sites. This is a wieldy way to provide internet security. But if that is your specific need this is for you. Another ehow article gives the detailed instructions (it's a bit technical) for this process. So it is linked both in the related articles to the right titled 'How to block access to websites in MacOS X' and in the resource link section at the bottom.
TO LOG EVERYTHING YOUR COMPUTERS VIEW, USE COVENANT EYES. This program will log and score every site that is viewed by a computer on which it is installed. It will not allow the internet to run if it is disabled and will send you an alert if it is uninstalled. You set the preferences as to how often to receive reports. Go to covenanteyes.com and click the 'sign up now' button. It will guide you through the process. For around $8 a month this is a relatively cheap option that covers up to three computers.
TO ONLY ALLOW CERTAIN SITES USE PARENTAL CONTROLS. If you are using the Leopard system then you can use the 'Parental Controls' feature found in System Preferences. Click on accounts. Check the box for parental controls. You can click on the content tab and then tick limit access to adult sites. You can also use button to add specific criteria to your block. Alternatively, simply add the specific sites you want allowed to the bookmark bar and type in your administrator's password. Then only those sites can be viewed.
TO UNBLOCK SITES ON A MAC.To remove parental controls simply return to the systems preference, accounts, then parental controls section. Un-click the parental control box. Un-click any content specific controls. To remove open dns.com simply drag the program folder from applications into the trash. Isn't Mac great?
If you worked at the router or server level you will have to undo those steps and reconfigure your system to allow direct access to the internet. To uninstall covenant eyes you need the password to get an uninstall code. It cannot happen late at night.

How to Combine 2 Pics in a MacBook (10 Steps)

Purchase, download and install an image editing software application or free trial. Adobe's (adobe.com) Photoshop is a professional tool available for download at the developer's website. GIMP (gimp.org) provides much of the same functionality as Photoshop, and you can download it for free from the Mac OS X page for the application. Other image editing software exists for the Mac OS X as well, including the simplified Pixelmator (pixelmator.com) and Apple's official application, Aperture (apple.com).
Open your image editing program. Click the 'File' menu and click 'Open File.'
Locate the first image on your computer. Click to highlight the image file. Take note of the pixel size of the image. This will be displayed as a set of dimensions listed beneath the file name.
Click 'Open' to display the picture. Repeat the process to locate and open the second image in a new tab or window.
Click the 'Image' menu and click 'Canvas Size.' A menu displays the current dimensions for the image. Determine the best location for the picture you want to add, for example, whether it belongs on the top, bottom, left or right of the second picture. Click to use the anchor tool to determine where the existing image will be positioned on the new canvas.
Increase the width, height or both dimensions of the image by the exact pixel size of the first image. The dimension you need to increase depends on the size of the second image, as well as the placement of the new image. For example, you would increase both the width and height dimensions if you wanted to position a tall image on the side of a shorter image, whereas you would only need to increase the height dimension if you were adding a tall image on top of a wider image.
Return to the image that still has its original dimensions. Press 'Apple' plus 'A' to select the entire image. Press 'Apple + C' to copy.
Click to return to the second image. Press 'Apple + V' to paste the image.
Click and drag the image into position in the extended canvas space.
Click the 'File' menu and click 'Save As.' Type a name and select a location for the file and click 'OK.'
