How to Block and Unblock Internet Sites (On a Mac)
DECIDE WHAT YOUR GOAL REALLY IS IN BLOCKING SITES.Be clear about this up front so you can find the best solution. Is this blocking for you? Is it for your kids? Is it to keep employees off of certain sites? Answer these questions first before stabbing in the blocking-sites-darkness.To block certain types of sites for all users on a computer or system - use OpenDNS.com, see step 2.
To block specific sites one at a time use the terminal command in Step 3.
To log (rather than block) specific sites use covenanteyes.com see Step 4.
To only ALLOW certain sites use the parental controls option, see Step 5.
USE FREE OPEN DNS TO BLOCK CERTAIN TYPES OF SITES FOR ALL USERS.This is a great option for small businesses or households with agreed upon and uniform standards for internet usage. See the resource section for a link. Go to the site (see resource link near the bottom of this page). Click on the 'start using open dns' button. Choose whether you want the blocking to occur at the computer level, the router level, or the server level. Follow the step by step instructions. They have pictures... it really is simple. Best of all, it is FREE!
TO BLOCK SPECIFIC SITES USE THE TERMINAL COMMAND IN MACOSX TO BLOCK THEM ONE AT A TIME.Few people really want to block only one or two sites. This is a wieldy way to provide internet security. But if that is your specific need this is for you. Another ehow article gives the detailed instructions (it's a bit technical) for this process. So it is linked both in the related articles to the right titled 'How to block access to websites in MacOS X' and in the resource link section at the bottom.
TO LOG EVERYTHING YOUR COMPUTERS VIEW, USE COVENANT EYES. This program will log and score every site that is viewed by a computer on which it is installed. It will not allow the internet to run if it is disabled and will send you an alert if it is uninstalled. You set the preferences as to how often to receive reports. Go to covenanteyes.com and click the 'sign up now' button. It will guide you through the process. For around $8 a month this is a relatively cheap option that covers up to three computers.
TO ONLY ALLOW CERTAIN SITES USE PARENTAL CONTROLS. If you are using the Leopard system then you can use the 'Parental Controls' feature found in System Preferences. Click on accounts. Check the box for parental controls. You can click on the content tab and then tick limit access to adult sites. You can also use button to add specific criteria to your block. Alternatively, simply add the specific sites you want allowed to the bookmark bar and type in your administrator's password. Then only those sites can be viewed.
TO UNBLOCK SITES ON A MAC.To remove parental controls simply return to the systems preference, accounts, then parental controls section. Un-click the parental control box. Un-click any content specific controls. To remove open dns.com simply drag the program folder from applications into the trash. Isn't Mac great?
If you worked at the router or server level you will have to undo those steps and reconfigure your system to allow direct access to the internet. To uninstall covenant eyes you need the password to get an uninstall code. It cannot happen late at night.

How Do I Convert My Movie So That It Plays on Dropbox?
Open the HandBrake application on your computer and select 'Source.' Select 'Open File' and then open the movie that you want to convert for Dropbox.

The preset you selected automatically adjusts the output settings to match your device, but you can also make adjustments yourself using the 'Picture,' 'Filters,' 'Video,' 'Audio' and 'Subtitles' tabs. For the best results, match the dimensions of the video file to that of your playback device.
Click the 'Start' button to initiate the movie conversion and store the file to the output folder you selected. The process can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes to complete depending on the size and duration of the movie file. How to Create Mac Backup Disks
Determine whether your computer burns DVDs or CDs. Select 'About This Mac' from the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. From this screen, click on 'More Info' and then choose 'Disc Burning' from the 'Hardware' menu of the System Profiler to see what kinds of media your computer is capable of writing.
Purchase a few CDs or DVDs. If you need to back up more than 800 megabytes of data at once, DVDs are the better option if your computer can make them.

Click on the disk icon once so that it is highlighted. Select the 'File' menu and scroll down to 'Burn Disc.' Check to be sure that you've copied all of your files to the backup disk before you burn it.

How to Secure an iPad (9 Steps)
Tap 'Settings' on your home screen. You'll see a settings navigation pane on the left and a main pane on the right.
Tap 'General' on the left pane and then 'Passcode Lock' about midway down the right pane.
Tap 'Turn Passcode On' at the top of the screen. A 'Set Passcode' window will pop up.
Key in a four-digit passcode that you can remember easily. When prompted, re-enter your passcode to confirm it.
Tap 'Require Passcode' to choose the delay before a passcode is required. You'll see six options, from immediately to four hours. Bear in mind that if you choose one, five or 15 minutes, or one or four hours, someone using your iPad will have that much time to make calls, send emails, make online purchases and peer through your iPad data before keying in a passcode. The shorter your delay time, the more secure.
Tap the 'Simple Passcode' switch to toggle it 'Off' if you prefer to create a longer, more complex passcode using letters and numbers. Enter your old, four-digit passcode in the pop-up window. Next, enter your new passcode and then re-enter it when prompted.
Tap the 'Picture Frame' switch to toggle it 'Off'. Your iPad will deactivate the lock-screen slideshow of the photos in your albums or camera roll.
Tap the 'Erase Data' switch to toggle it 'On'. This instructs your iPad to self-erase after 10 failed passcode attempts. Failed passcode attempts suggest that someone with less than honorable intentions is trying to guess his way to unlocking your device, and this prevents him from succeeding.
Press the 'Sleep/Wake' button on the upper-right edge of your iPad to put it to sleep. Next, press the 'Sleep/Wake' button again or the 'Home' button to awaken your iPad and then drag the 'Slide to Unlock' slider to the right. Type your passcode in the 'Enter Passcode' window to confirm your new passcode settings.
