How to Do a Dual Screen on an iMac (9 Steps)

Determine the type of video connection used with the external monitor you wish to connect to the iMac. The iMac features a Mini DisplayPort on the back of the monitor that supports DVI, VGA and dual-link DVI connections through the use of different adapters. DVI and VGA are two of the most common connections used with computer monitors. The type of connection your external monitor uses should be printed beneath its connection port (see Resources).
Plug in the appropriate Mini DisplayPort adapter for your monitor. The Mini DisplayPort connector is located in the lower-left corner on the back of your iMac to the right of the USB cable and ethernet cable inputs (see Resources).
Turn on the external monitor and the iMac computer.
Connect the external monitor's connection cable to the Mini DisplayPort adapter that you connected to the back of the computer.
Click the 'Finder' icon on the iMac Dock and then click the 'Applications' folder. Click 'System Preferences' to open the 'System Preferences' dialog box. Click 'Displays' beneath the 'Hardware' subheading to bring up the 'Display Settings' dialog box.
Click 'Detect Displays' in the lower-right side of the dialog box to force the iMac to detect the external display. Once the computer detects the external display, select the 'Arrangement' tab. Two boxes will appear in the dialog box, representing your monitors. The box with the white bar across the top of it represents the iMac monitor while the other box represents the external monitor.
Drag the box that represents your external monitor to the appropriate side of the box that represents your iMac monitor. For example, if your external monitor is on the left side of your iMac, drag the box representing the external monitor to the left side of the box representing the iMac monitor.
Place a checkmark next to the 'Mirror Displays' option in the lower-left corner of the 'Arrangement' dialog box if you want to use the external display to mirror the iMac display. Remove the check mark from the 'Mirror Displays' option if you want to use the external display as an extended display. This means that the monitor will act as an extension of your iMac's desktop, letting you drag the mouse cursor from one screen to the other. You can display programs, movies, applications or anything else on the second monitor to free up space on the iMac's main screen.
Close the 'Display Preferences' window to save the changes.

How to Replace the Logic Board in a Macbook Pro

Turn your Macbook Pro off and flip it over. Remove the battery from its bay by pressing the two catches on either side of the battery compartment (in the middle of the bottom of your Macbook Pro); then lift out the battery.
Remove the three screws at the bottom of the battery compartment with the Phillips-head screwdriver and lift out the compartment.

Lift the keyboard up by its corners and away from the body of the computer to reveal the green logic board. Detach the orange ribbon connecting the keyboard by gently pulling it loose from the logic board. Place the keyboard aside.
Remove the two wires connected to the sides of the logic board from the computer by inserting the tip of your flat-head screwdriver under the wire and gently lifting upward.
Remove the yellow tape from the top of the logic board with the tip of your flat-head screwdriver. Disconnect the thick gold video cable from the side of the logic board.
Remove the 10 screws on the logic board (eight on the sides and two in the middle) with your Phillips-head screwdriver.
Gently lift the logic board up and remove the power cable from the left side of the logic board by gently pulling it out. How to Set Up the Internet for the PowerBook G4

Determine what kind of connection you will use to connect to the Internet. You must already have an account set up with an Internet provider. If you plan to use a wireless connection, rather than an Ethernet connection, make sure that your computer has an AirPort Card in it first. Without an AirPort Card inside it, you must use an Ethernet connection. (To determine if you have an AirPort Card, go to 'About This Mac' underneath the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen and click 'More Info.' If you see 'AirPort' listed underneath 'Network,' then your computer has an AirPort Card installed.) If you're using an Ethernet cable, insert it into the PowerBook's Ethernet port, located on the left side.
Open 'System Preferences,' which is by default located on the Dock. It is also located in the Applications folder on the hard drive (which is titled 'Macintosh HD').
Click on 'Network.'
Click 'Assist me...' then 'Assistant.'
Give your connection a name, or just use the default name provided, and click 'Continue.'
Select the type of Internet connection you have (wireless, DSL or cable--it's DSL if your modem is connected to a telephone wire; it's cable if the modem is connected to a cable wire). Click 'Continue.'
Select the wireless connection that you want to connect to from the list, if you're connecting wirelessly, and enter your password, if required, then click 'Continue'; your computer will automatically connect to the wireless account, and you're done. If you are using an Ethernet cable to connect, click 'Continue' on the next page. Once you're back on the network page, select the network location you just created in the 'Location' tab, and click 'Apply.' If needed, a pop-up will ask for your username and password, and will finish the connection.
