How to Change the Registered Name of a MacBook


Go to the “Apple” menu and open “System Preferences.” In the window, select “Accounts.” Press on the lock-shaped icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Enter your password in the on-screen prompt.
Change the user name on the account by typing the desired name into the text box. Change the password, if desired, by pressing on the “Change Password” button.
Press the “Show All” button at the top of the window to return to the main System Preferences screen. Click on the “Sharing” button.
Change the computer name and the local network name for the computer. Enter the desired name for the computer in the text box. Press “Edit” to change the name as it appears on the local network. After you are finished, prevent further changes by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner of the screen.

Insert disc one from your Mac OS software bundle into the computers optical drive. Disc one is labeled as the 'Mac OS X Install DVD.'
Double-click the 'Optional installs' folder on the Mac OS X install pop up menu. The menu will automatically pop up once you have inserted the disc into the optical drive.
Double-click the 'Optional installs installer' on the next window. When the optional installs installer screen pops up, click 'Continue.'
Click 'Continue' on the software license screen. Read through the terms of agreement on the next page and click 'Agree' when you are finished and agree to accept the terms.

Launch the messenger program you are using. Examples include Yahoo Messenger, iChat, MSN Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Enter your user name and password and click 'Sign in.'
Wait for your contacts or buddy list to load. Look for a 'video camera icon' next to the screen name of the friend you want to video chat with. If you do not see an icon, this may mean the user does not have video chatting capabilities.
Right-click on the screen name and select 'Start video chat' or 'Video.' If the option is not available, double click on the screen name to open a new instant message window and click the 'Video' option in the window.
Wait for the person to accept the video chat invitation. If the person accepts, a video window will appear and the Macbook's built in iSight camera will automatically turn on and begin streaming live video.
Exit the video chat by closing the instant message window or clicking 'Disconnect' or 'End video.'

Click on 'My Screen Saver.' Your pictures should begin to show in the preview window. Below the preview window is a list of options you can use to customize your screen saver.
Adjust the 'Start screen saver' option by dragging the arrow to the appropriate length of inactivity needed for the screen saver to begin to play. Click on the 'Display Style' bar to select how you would like the pictures to be played (one after another, spinning in one after another, or beginning from one corner and showing the whole set). You can further customize your screen saver by selecting 'Options' and choosing 'random order,' 'cross-fade between slides,' 'zoom back and forth,' 'crop slides to fill screen' or 'keep sides centered.' Set your options and quit System Preferences.
