How to Secure an iPad (9 Steps)

Tap 'Settings' on your home screen. You'll see a settings navigation pane on the left and a main pane on the right.
Tap 'General' on the left pane and then 'Passcode Lock' about midway down the right pane.
Tap 'Turn Passcode On' at the top of the screen. A 'Set Passcode' window will pop up.
Key in a four-digit passcode that you can remember easily. When prompted, re-enter your passcode to confirm it.
Tap 'Require Passcode' to choose the delay before a passcode is required. You'll see six options, from immediately to four hours. Bear in mind that if you choose one, five or 15 minutes, or one or four hours, someone using your iPad will have that much time to make calls, send emails, make online purchases and peer through your iPad data before keying in a passcode. The shorter your delay time, the more secure.
Tap the 'Simple Passcode' switch to toggle it 'Off' if you prefer to create a longer, more complex passcode using letters and numbers. Enter your old, four-digit passcode in the pop-up window. Next, enter your new passcode and then re-enter it when prompted.
Tap the 'Picture Frame' switch to toggle it 'Off'. Your iPad will deactivate the lock-screen slideshow of the photos in your albums or camera roll.
Tap the 'Erase Data' switch to toggle it 'On'. This instructs your iPad to self-erase after 10 failed passcode attempts. Failed passcode attempts suggest that someone with less than honorable intentions is trying to guess his way to unlocking your device, and this prevents him from succeeding.
Press the 'Sleep/Wake' button on the upper-right edge of your iPad to put it to sleep. Next, press the 'Sleep/Wake' button again or the 'Home' button to awaken your iPad and then drag the 'Slide to Unlock' slider to the right. Type your passcode in the 'Enter Passcode' window to confirm your new passcode settings.

How to Restore a Custom iPhone IPSW

Back up your crucial iPhone data.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPhone to your computer using the iPhone USB cable.
Hold the 'Home' and 'Sleep' buttons down simultaneously for 10 seconds.
Release the 'Sleep' button immediately after 10 seconds are up. Continue to hold down the 'Home' button. If done successfully, iTunes will display a dialog window informing you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click 'OK' and you are taken to the iPhone restore page. The timing is tricky and it may take a few tries.
Hold down 'Control' (or 'Option' on a Mac) and click 'Restore.' This will bring up a file browser. Locate the custom IPSW firmware and click 'Open.' iTunes will begin restoring the iPhone using the custom firmware. A progress bar will indicate how far along the process is and a progress bar will also display on the iPhone. A confirmation dialog will inform you of the successful restore.

How to Play Chess on Mac OS Tiger

Click the 'Go' menu tab from the Finder.
Scroll to and click the 'Applications' menu option. This will bring up the list of common applications that are currently stored on your Mac.
Double click the 'Chess' icon to play chess. If the icon is not immediately visible then simply scroll up or down until it appears in the window.
Notice that by default the computer will start a game with the human playing as white and the computer playing as black.
Begin play simply by moving your pieces and progressing through the game until either you or the computer is victorious.
Click 'Game' followed by 'New Game' to change the current players or the difficulty. You can change the game from Computer vs. Human to Computer vs. Computer or Human vs. Human.
Take advantage of the Move menu. The Move menu offer you a chance to take back moves after the fact, as well as see the last move the computer performed.
Choose a variant form of chess when you start a new game. Crazyhouse, for example, allows you to replace pieces to the board that are duplicates of your opponents (if you capture an opponent's white rook, you will receive a black rook of your own, even if you already have 2 on the board).
Enable Speech in chess. With speech enabled (and a compatible microphone) you will be able to instruct the computer where and how to move your pieces without ever having to touch the keyboard.
