How to Use Special Effects on a Mac iSight Camera
Open iChat and start the video camera. You can do this by clicking on the camera icon next to your name or selecting PREVIEW VIDEO from the VIDEO drop down menu. Once you have started the camera, select SHOW EFFECTS from the VIDEO menu.
From the special effects toolbox simply select the effect you want to see displayed in the video preview window. Notice the ORIGINAL view is always present in the center of the selections so you can easily flip back to the normal camera view.
Scroll through the effects pages using the scroll keys. The original is always in the center. There are six pages of effects, so take your time and experiment with all of the different ones. Keep in mind that flipping through the effects can be irritating to the people you are chatting with; you have to be in a playful mood.
There are also video effects. The roller coaster and fish tank are my favorites. Notice that your image will be in the center of the video effect and the video will run behind your image. Your chat members may see you on a roller coaster or in front of Yosemite Falls. Kids seem to love the video effects, although I am not sure how the grandparents may feel about them.
You can also add your own backgrounds from image files. Simply select an image file and you will see your camera image in front of the image background. This actually has a practical use for trainers and business. For example, you could put your company logo tiled behind you, which would give the look and feel of being at a press conference. The special effects are a fun way to add a little pizazz to a business conference or to just get a little wacky when chatting with family and friends.

How to Speed Up Download Speeds on Mac (4 Steps)
Change your Internet connection. This is one of the only sure ways to speed up your downloads on a Mac. If you have a cable connection, consider switching to DSL. Even though cable can be faster, the more people connected in a given area, the more bandwidth is used and the slower the download speeds are for you. While DSL is constant, since you are not sharing your connection with anyone else, if you have DSL, consider upgrading the number of Mbps you can download. If you go from 1.5 to 3 or 5, you will notice a difference.
Open ports on your computer. This will allow the ports that you are downloading on to have more access to your computer and therefore download more quickly. Open “System Preferences” in the Apple menu.
Click on “Sharing” and select “Firewall.”
Click “New” and select “Other” from the drop-down menu. Input “6881-6889” in the “TCP Port Numbers” and “UDP Port Numbers” boxes and add a description. Press “OK” and check the new port to open it.

How to Play Chess on Mac OS Tiger
Click the 'Go' menu tab from the Finder.
Scroll to and click the 'Applications' menu option. This will bring up the list of common applications that are currently stored on your Mac.
Double click the 'Chess' icon to play chess. If the icon is not immediately visible then simply scroll up or down until it appears in the window.
Notice that by default the computer will start a game with the human playing as white and the computer playing as black.
Begin play simply by moving your pieces and progressing through the game until either you or the computer is victorious.
Click 'Game' followed by 'New Game' to change the current players or the difficulty. You can change the game from Computer vs. Human to Computer vs. Computer or Human vs. Human.
Take advantage of the Move menu. The Move menu offer you a chance to take back moves after the fact, as well as see the last move the computer performed.
Choose a variant form of chess when you start a new game. Crazyhouse, for example, allows you to replace pieces to the board that are duplicates of your opponents (if you capture an opponent's white rook, you will receive a black rook of your own, even if you already have 2 on the board).
Enable Speech in chess. With speech enabled (and a compatible microphone) you will be able to instruct the computer where and how to move your pieces without ever having to touch the keyboard.
