How to Privately Track Your Missing Laptop Computer

Register your laptop computer with the manufacturer. This allows you to have the serial number recorded in their database. Law enforcement officials can easily identify your laptop later.
Apply a security sticker to your laptop. Security stickers come with strong adhesive that is extremely difficult to remove. Security Tracking of Office Property (STOP) stickers even chemically apply 'Stolen Property' tags beneath the sticker on the laptop that make your laptop identifiable as a stolen property; if the thief is able to remove the sticker, the 'Stolen Property' imprint is left showing. These security stickers also include your name, address and telephone number, and request the return of your laptop computer. Stuffbak, StopTheft and TrackItBack make popular security stickers (see Resources below).
Tell your Laptop computer to contact you when it is stolen or missing. Download and install the free laptop tracking software Adeona, and your laptop computer will contact you discreetly when it is missing. Adeona, from University of Washington programmers, is a small program that sends location information at regular intervals to a designated email address. This allows you to locate your missing laptop computer (see Resources below).
Subscribe to laptop computer tracking services. Lojack for Laptop and TrackItBack are popular laptop tracking service providers (see Resources below). For a fee, they will monitor the movement of your computer. They will also notify and work closely with law enforcement officials to recover your missing laptop.

How to Remove the Casing From a Mac (9 Steps)

Locate the lever. On the Mac Pro, there is a lever that needs to be positioned correctly in order to remove the case. The lever is rectangular in shape, positioned vertically, and sits flush with the face of the back panel.
Flip the lever. Apply pressure on the top portion of the lever with your thumb. This will cause the bottom portion of the lever to pop outward from the case. Pull out on the bottom portion until you feel a light snap. This is a sign that the locking mechanism has been released. The lever should stay in the outward position that it is currently in.
Fold down the side panel. The removable side panel is located on the same side of the Mac Pro as the lever. You may have to lift the panel up slightly and pull outward to release it from the rest of the case. The side panel should now be completely free and positioned where you can easily lift it away from the rest of the case.

How to Block Websites on a Mac (4 Steps)

Open the system preferences pane. There is a shortcut on the dock that is shaped like a gear and says 'System Preferences.'

Click 'Enable Parental Controls.' This will bring you to the main menu for setting the parental control parameters for the Safari web browser and other programs on the Mac.
Locate the 'Content' tab and click on it. Next, under Safari, select the type of restrictions that you would like to enable. Choose 'Try To Limit Access To Adult Websites Automatically' if you want Safari to block access to pornographic or other adult sites automatically. If you want to create a list of acceptable sites, select the option to 'Allow Access To Only These Websites.' Enter the names of the websites that you want to allow Safari to access in the table provided. When you are finished, exit Parental Controls/System Preferences and your changes will automatically be saved. The Safari web browser will only allow access to the websites that you have specified.

How to Fill a Cracked Screen With Toothpaste (5 Steps)

Place a hand towel on a table. Place the cellphone on the towel with the screen facing up. Blow off the screen with a burst of compressed air. Wipe the edges of the screen with a soft cloth to remove any dust that has gathered there. Blow the screen off again with the compressed air.
Apply toothpaste to the end of the cotton swab. Wipe the excess toothpaste off the sides of the swab with your finger. Wash your finger with water.
Hold the swab in your right hand. Hold the cellphone down with your left hand. Place the covered tip of the swab against the screen at the left side of the crack. Press down gently as you drag the tip across the length of the crack. Remove the tip once the other side of the crack is reached. Discard the swab.
Wrap the soft cloth around the pinky finger of your right hand. Hold the cellphone down with your left hand. Place the covered tip of your pinky against the screen at the left side of the crack. Press down gently as you drag the covered tip of your pinky along the length of the crack. Remove your pinky from the screen once you reach the other side of the crack. Place the soft cloth aside.
Inspect the screen to see if the crack is no longer visible. If you can still see the crack, repeat the entire procedure again starting with the application of the toothpaste to the swab and the swab to the screen.
