How to Use Excel on a Mac
Open Excel. From the Mac OS X desktop, double click on the hard drive icon in the top right corner. From the list of folders, select 'Applications' and then select 'Microsoft Office.' The Excel application will be identified by an animated, cartoonish green 'X' and can be opened by double clicking this character.
Create a new spreadsheet. When Excel first opens, a new, blank spreadsheet will be automatically created and given a default name of 'Worksheet 1.' As such, no steps are required to create a basic new spreadsheet.
Save the spreadsheet. From the Apple menu at the top of the screen, select 'File' and then select 'Save As' to indicate to Excel that you want to save your spreadsheet. A dialogue box will appear in which you can give your file a name and select a location on your hard drive or network to save the file. Click 'OK' to save your worksheet.

How to Privately Track Your Missing Laptop Computer
Register your laptop computer with the manufacturer. This allows you to have the serial number recorded in their database. Law enforcement officials can easily identify your laptop later.
Apply a security sticker to your laptop. Security stickers come with strong adhesive that is extremely difficult to remove. Security Tracking of Office Property (STOP) stickers even chemically apply 'Stolen Property' tags beneath the sticker on the laptop that make your laptop identifiable as a stolen property; if the thief is able to remove the sticker, the 'Stolen Property' imprint is left showing. These security stickers also include your name, address and telephone number, and request the return of your laptop computer. Stuffbak, StopTheft and TrackItBack make popular security stickers (see Resources below).
Tell your Laptop computer to contact you when it is stolen or missing. Download and install the free laptop tracking software Adeona, and your laptop computer will contact you discreetly when it is missing. Adeona, from University of Washington programmers, is a small program that sends location information at regular intervals to a designated email address. This allows you to locate your missing laptop computer (see Resources below).
Subscribe to laptop computer tracking services. Lojack for Laptop and TrackItBack are popular laptop tracking service providers (see Resources below). For a fee, they will monitor the movement of your computer. They will also notify and work closely with law enforcement officials to recover your missing laptop.

How to Load a Mini DVD Into a MacBook Pro
Shop for external mini-DVD drives through online computer-component retailers like New Egg or Tiger Direct, and compare their prices with those of office-supply and computer-repair shops like OfficeMax and Staples.
Purchase a mini-DVD drive that uses either a USB or Firewire connector cable, as the MacBook Pro has two of each of these types of slots on its side.
Connect the external mini-DVD drive to your MacBook Pro and install any extra software that came with it. Insert the mini-DVD into the external drive, then access the files on the mini-DVD as you normally would.

How to Edit Documents on an iPad (7 Steps)
Browse the iPad App Store for an app that allows you to edit the type of documents you need. Specific word processing editors include Pages for iPad and Doc2, while spreadsheet editing apps include Numbers or Sheet2. For a full-service productivity suite, try Documents to Go, Quickoffice Connect or Office2 HD. All of these apps can open and edit common Microsoft Office document formats, as well as limited other formatted documents. Each app offers different features, so read the app descriptions carefully before making your purchase.
Download and install the app of your choice on your iPad. If you currently use a cloud sharing service, such as Dropbox, SugarSync, iDisk or Box dot Net, download and install that service's app as well. Cloud service apps are usually free for existing accounts or limited size new accounts.
Move the file you wish to edit onto your iPad, either by emailing it to yourself, transferring it through iTunes and syncing your iPad to your computer or by uploading it into your cloud storage account and then downloading it to the iPad.
Tap the file to open it in the iPad's basic preview mode, and then tap the 'Open in' button to send the file to the editor app you installed.
Edit your document using common iPad gestures, such as double-tapping to select a word and dragging the selection handles to modify the highlighted selection. Replace selections by typing over them or insert text by tapping in your preferred insertion spot, then typing your new text. Press and hold your finger on the text to get precise cursor insertion through the magnification feature.
Save your changes with the app's 'Save' feature. Some apps, such as Pages, automatically save your work with each change, so you do not have a manual save option.
Send the edited document via email or restore it to your cloud service by tapping the action button (a rectangle with a curved arrow) and making your selection.
