How to Optimize Netflix (5 Steps)

Visit Netflix.com and click the 'Your Account' tab in the upper right corner. Click the link that reads 'Manage Netflix ready devices and computers.' Under the 'Support' heading, click your Netflix-viewing device (such as 'Xbox 360' or 'Netflix for iPad') to find out if you are currently missing any required software to properly stream videos. If necessary, download the listed software and install it on your PC.
Connect your computer or other Netflix viewing device to an Ethernet cable for wired Internet. While Netflix can stream videos through Wi-Fi, the wireless delay may slow down your streaming quality in the event that you have a slower Internet service or multiple users accessing the same wireless network. If you cannot connect to a wired Internet signal, move as close to the wireless router as possible.
Watch videos at a time when the Internet signal is uninterrupted by others in your household. If you stream videos while others surf the Internet on the same network, you will all have to share the same bandwidth, often resulting in poor Netflix quality on your part.
Close other web browsers and discontinue all other web-related activity if your streaming quality suffers. You should especially make sure to discontinue activities related to large file downloads and high-resolution web games.
Contact your Internet service provider about increasing your upload/download speeds. This may result in an increase in your monthly bill, but will improve your entire web experience. The faster your Internet connection, the smoother Netflix will run on your PC, and the better your video quality.
