How to Show a Superdrive on a Mac Desktop

Turn on the Mac. For laptops such as the MacBook Pro and all-in-one desktops such as the iMac, the Superdrive is located on the right side of the casing. For the 'Mac Pro' desktop computer, the drive is located on the upper section of the front panel.
Position the CD or DVD with the label side face up and gently push the disc into the Superdrive slot. You will feel the drive turn on and begin to pull the disc in.
Wait a few seconds. You will hear the drive start spinning the disc to read the disc contents. Go to the desktop either by using one of the 'hot corners,' moving your mouse cursor to one of the four corners of the screen or by clicking 'Finder' in the 'Dock' followed by 'Desktop.'
Look around the desktop for an icon of a CD. Depending on the contents or type of disc inserted, the icon will be a blank silver looking disc or a disc shaped image related to the disc contents. As long as the disc is inside the Superdrive, the drive will be viewable on the Mac desktop.

How to Replace the Hard Drive on an Aluminum Macbook Pro

Shut down the MacBook Pro and disconnect all cables and devices. Allow the computer to cool for 10 minutes before moving to the next step.
Remove the 10 screws that secure the bottom case. The short screws must be removed at an angle. To view the angles, review Page 38 of the MacBook Pro manual (see Resources). Tape each screw to a piece of paper that indicates their original position in the computer case. Lift the case off and put it out of the way.
Touch your finger to a metal surface on the computer’s interior to discharge static electricity that may be present in your body.
Remove the two screws that hold down the bracket that holds the hard drive in place. Tape the bracket and the screws to the second sheet of paper.
Pull up on the tab coming from under the hard drive to lift it from the drive bay. Use a gentle, steady motion.
Disconnect the connector from the drive by pulling the connector as you grip the drive on the left side.
Remove the mounting screws from this disk drive if the replacement drive does not include them. Insert the mounting screws on the replacement hard drive.
Push the hard drive connector into the replacement drive on the left side.
Lower the replacement hard drive into the hard drive bay, copying the angle at which you removed the old hard drive.
Place the bracket over the hard drive and use the screws to secure it.
Position the lower case on the computer and replace the screws, using their alignment on the paper to find the correct location.
Press the Power button and allow the MacBook Pro to start up.

How to Repair a Dead Laptop Battery

Shut down the power on your laptop and close the screen.
Locate the battery case on the underside of your laptop. The case will be a narrow rectangle shape, and be about as long as the width of the laptop.
Notice a lock/unlock sliding switch underneath your laptop. Usually there are two of these switches, each with a battery symbol, near each end of the battery case.
Grasp the laptop battery with your fingertips as you slide one of the switches to the unlock position. Now unlock the second sliding switch. The battery case should now come loose, which will allow you to remove it from the laptop.
Put the battery case in a large freezer bag. Make sure the bag is sealed completely and place it in your freezer for 12 hours.
Remove the bag from the freezer after 12 hours have passed. Take your laptop battery out of the freezer bag and allow it to completely return to room temperature. If condensation appears on the battery case, wipe it away with a small towel.
Slide the battery case back into the empty compartment on the bottom of your laptop. Make sure to lock the battery in place by moving both lock/unlock switches to the locked position.
Plug your laptop into a wall outlet, but do not turn it on. Allow the battery to charge for several hours.
Turn your laptop on and check the battery monitoring icon to see if the unit is fully charged. Usually the icon is on the bottom right side of the computer screen. Wait until the icon shows a full charge before proceeding.
Remove the wall outlet power and continue using your laptop, or let it sit with the power on, until the battery runs completely down. Now plug power back into the laptop and fully recharge your battery. Repeat this cycle of charging and discharging four times. After the fourth cycle you should notice your battery holding a charge for a much longer time than before.
