How to Connect an Acer Monitor to a MacBook

Look at the ports on the left side of the MacBook and the back of the Acer monitor. A MacBook can be connected to an external monitor that has either a DVI or VGA port. The ports on the monitor will either be labeled or have a corresponding icon next to them. If you are unsure what an icon means, look in the 'Features' section of your user manual. Make sure your Acer monitor model has the correct port.
Plug one end of the connection cable into the monitor and the other end into the MacBook. If you are using a DVI cable connection, plug each end directly into each device. If you are using a VGA cable connection, you have to use the mini-DVI-to-VGA adapter that comes with your MacBook. Plug one end of the VGA cable into the VGA end of the adapter and insert the adapter DVI end into the laptop. Plug the other end of the VGA cable into the monitor.
Turn on both devices. After your MacBook powers up, it will automatically detect and display the desktop on both screens. Your Acer monitor is now ready for configuration.
Click on the 'Apple' icon on the top left corner of the desktop. From the drop-down list, select 'System Preferences' followed by 'Display.' A new 'Display' window will appear that has the available options that can be changed. For example, you can change the screen resolution of the Acer monitor, change the arrangement of the displays and whether you want to mirror the MacBook's display, or extend the desktop to the Acer monitor.

How to Replace the Hard Drive on an Aluminum Macbook Pro

Shut down the MacBook Pro and disconnect all cables and devices. Allow the computer to cool for 10 minutes before moving to the next step.
Remove the 10 screws that secure the bottom case. The short screws must be removed at an angle. To view the angles, review Page 38 of the MacBook Pro manual (see Resources). Tape each screw to a piece of paper that indicates their original position in the computer case. Lift the case off and put it out of the way.
Touch your finger to a metal surface on the computer’s interior to discharge static electricity that may be present in your body.
Remove the two screws that hold down the bracket that holds the hard drive in place. Tape the bracket and the screws to the second sheet of paper.
Pull up on the tab coming from under the hard drive to lift it from the drive bay. Use a gentle, steady motion.
Disconnect the connector from the drive by pulling the connector as you grip the drive on the left side.
Remove the mounting screws from this disk drive if the replacement drive does not include them. Insert the mounting screws on the replacement hard drive.
Push the hard drive connector into the replacement drive on the left side.
Lower the replacement hard drive into the hard drive bay, copying the angle at which you removed the old hard drive.
Place the bracket over the hard drive and use the screws to secure it.
Position the lower case on the computer and replace the screws, using their alignment on the paper to find the correct location.
Press the Power button and allow the MacBook Pro to start up.

How to Restore My Macbook to Factory Setting

Deauthorize your iTunes Store account if you're getting rid of your computer. Since only five computers can share the same iTunes account, you should always deauthorize a computer you no longer plan to use. Open iTunes, click “Store” and select “Deauthorize This Computer.” Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted and click “Deauthorize.”
Deauthorize any other software that limits your license to a certain number of computers, such as Photoshop or Lightroom. Refer to your owner's manual or the application's Help menu for the steps to deauthorize your account.
Back up your current installation to an external hard drive. This step is optional, and if your system isn't working properly, you should back up only the files you want to transfer to your new system. To clone your hard drive, connect an external drive to a USB port and open Disk Utility. Select “Restore,” then drag the internal partition to the Source field and the external partition to the Destination field. Select “Erase Destination” and click “Restore.” This process destroys all the data on the external partition, so use an empty disk or partition to store your backup.
Reboot your system into OS X Recovery. Click the “Apple” menu and select “Restart.” While your computer is restarting, hold down “Command-R” to boot into OS X Recovery. If you need to connect to a Wi-Fi network after booting into Recovery, click the “Wi-Fi” menu, select your network and enter your password when prompted. If you're connected to a wired network, Recovery automatically detects your Ethernet connection.
Select “Reinstall OS X” and click “Continue.” The recovery process requires an Internet connection to download the necessary files for restoring your Macbook. If you're restoring your computer to an upgraded version of OS X, Recovery prompts you to enter your Apple ID and password before downloading the installation files. Since the download copies about 4GB of files to your computer, it can take over 30 minutes with a high-speed connection.
Click “Restart” when the installation finishes. Your Macbook reboots into a fresh installation of OS X, and all your settings are restored to factory defaults.
