How Can I Test My Signature Pad? (3 Steps)
Open up an appropriate program such as Acrobat, Word or Excel.
Choose to add a signature into the document. In Word or Excel, this will likely be done via a button on the 'Insert' or 'Add-in' tab, installed by the signature pad software, or via the 'Insert' menu on older versions. You need to consult the signature pad documentation for precise instructions, since each manufacturer differs. In Adobe Acrobat, open any pdf file or create a new one. Choose 'Advanced,' 'Sign and Certify' and then 'Place Signature.' You have to select the method, so you would choose your signature pad. Acrobat will prompt you for placement by dragging your mouse in the location the signature should go.
Sign your name on the signature pad. If it shows up in the program you chose, then it works. If it didn't, there may be a problem with the installation.

How to Plug in a Microphone (5 Steps)
Locate the microphone jack on your computer. This jack is usually pink. If you do not find one, then you will need to add a sound card to enable this feature. You can find sound cards at many stores, including Best Buy. Refer to your owner's manual or computer manufacturer as to the sound card type you need.
Plug the microphone jack into the computer jack.
Turn on the microphone by using the on switch if the microphone has this.
Check to make sure the volume is up for the microphone in the computer. For Windows, this requires clicking the speaker icon near the system tray clock.
Start the software you have chosen and begin enjoying the features of your mini home studio.

How to Tell If Your Laptop Is Registered (4 Steps)
Locate your laptop's serial number. Most laptops have a serial number on the underside of the machine. A Dell laptop also has a 'service tag', which is useful in looking up purchase and warranty information.
Check the registration of your laptop at the manufacturer's website. This can often be done by entering the laptop serial number or service tag into an online form. Alternatively, you can call the laptop company, and check the registration of that particular machine.
Check the registration of the laptop's operating system. In Windows, this can be done by right-clicking on 'My Computer.' In Mac OS X, this can be done through the Apple menu (you can access the serial number in this way, as well). Often, this will not give you the exact identity of the owner or previous owners, but might give you some relevant information, such as a pseudonym.
Contact any institution under which the laptop may have been registered. For example, many universities and various governmental bodies require laptop registration. If your laptop appears to have been the property of such an institution, contact the relevant tech support staff to determine its registration information.

How to Network a Toshiba Television to a Mac
Power off your Toshiba television set.
Click the Apple logo at the upper left of your Mac, then click “Shutdown.” A message appears, asking you to verify that you want to turn off your Mac. Click “Shut Down” once more to confirm.
Locate the video input port on your Toshiba television. Typically video in ports are located on the back of a television. Consult the manufacturer’s owner’s manual for details about your specific TV model. New Toshiba TVs come with HDMI video input ports.
Insert the Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter’s Mini DisplayPort connector into the Thunderbolt port on your Mac. The Thunderbolt port is marked with an icon of a lightning bolt, and it accepts both Thunderbolt connectors and Mini DisplayPort connectors.
Connect the HDMI connector of the Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter to the HDMI input on your Toshiba television.
Power on your Toshiba TV and press the “Input” button on the remote repeatedly until you have switched to HDMI input.
Power on your Mac.
Click the Apple logo, then click “System Preferences,” and then click “Displays.” Click the “Show Displays in Menu Bar” check box, and then click “Detect Displays.” The Mac detects the connected Toshiba TV and automatically sets the correct resolution to display the contents of the Mac’s screen on the Toshiba screen.
Click the icon of a monitor on the menu bar of your Mac, and then click “Turn on Mirroring” from the pull-down menu if you want your Toshiba TV to show what’s appearing on your Mac’s display. If you don’t turn on the mirroring feature, the Toshiba TV serves as a second monitor to extend your computer’s desktop, onto which you can position files, folders and application windows, including video applications, such as DVD Player or QuickTime.
Click the Apple logo, then click “System Preferences” and then click “Sound” if you do not hear audio from your Mac on the Toshiba. Click “Output,” and then click “HDMI” to select it.

How to Troubleshoot Mac USB Issues (7 Steps)
Check that the USB device is connected to the appropriate jack. There is a USB jack in the back of most keyboards, but it often only works with a mouse.
Unplug any USB devices and wait a few moments before reconnecting them. You can often fix problems with your USB keyboard and mouse by using this method. Try restarting your computer if the malfunction persists after you reconnect the USB device.
Test your USB peripherals in another computer. If the problem exists in the second computer, you may need to have the device serviced or look for an updated version of the firmware that supports your USB item. Check the manufacturer's website for these updates.
Try different devices in the same USB port. For example, if your mouse if behaving strangely, see whether an external drive or an iPod is able to connect to the computer via that USB port.
Disconnect any USB hubs that you're using and connect each device one at a time to your computer. You need to troubleshoot the devices individually to find out whether the USB hub or the one of the devices is causing the problem. Be sure to test each peripheral with a working USB cable.
Reset the parameter random access memory (PRAM) and nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) on your computer. Turn off your computer, then restart it and immediately press and hold the 'Command,' 'Option,' 'P' and 'R' keys on the keyboard. Release the keys after you hear the startup chime for the third time and your computer should boot normally.
Consider reinstalling the operating system after clearing your computer's hard drive. Be sure to back up all of your data before you erase the disc. You may also want to bring the computer to a Mac service center and have the logic board examined.
