Can an iPad Read Out Loud? (6 Steps)
Tap the 'Settings' icon on your iPad's Home screen. Tap 'General' and then 'Accessibility.'
Tap 'VoiceOver' in the Vision section. Tap the button on the VoiceOver line to activate it -- the slider button should move across and its background should now be green. You'll also hear an audio message telling you that VoiceOver is on.
Tap 'VoiceOver Practice' to open a page where you can try out gestures. When you tap or swipe on the page, VoiceOver tells you how the gesture works. For example, one tap will select an item and two taps are the start and stop functions. If you tap an app or a button, VoiceOver tells you what it is; if you then tap it twice, it will open. You can find a full list of gestures in Apple's iPad User Guide. When you have tried this out, tap 'Done' and then double tap to return to the menu.
Tap the 'Speaking Rate' button to change the speed of speech, if you find the default rate too slow or too fast. Swipe up to increase speed or swipe down to decrease it. You can also activate or deactivate other VoiceOver features in this menu, such as Pitch Change, Sound Effects and Languages & Dialects.
Select and double tap the 'Rotor' button. You'll use the rotor to control and change settings as you navigate around your iPad. Tap on an item to select it and then double tap to add or remove it. If you don't want to make any changes at this stage, leave the default list as it is.
Press the 'Home' button to return to the Home screen. Open a Web page or an email to test the Rotor. It works like a dial: Put two fingers on the screen and rotate them to open it. Move your fingers in a circular motion to move through the settings. If you want to change a setting, swipe up or down.

How to Right Click with an Apple Computer (4 Steps)
Place the pointer over the item that you want right click on. If you want to change the desktop background, place the pointer anywhere on the desktop image that's currently set. If you are trying to select a folder or drive, place the pointer directly on top of the folder or drive.
Look on the keyboard in the lower left corner for the control key. It maybe labeled 'Ctrl.' In basic use of the Macintosh, it's unlikely that you've ever had to use that key, so don't be frightened of it.
Hold down the 'Ctrl' key on the keyboard. Press and hold it without letting go.
Click the mouse button once and a menu will appear. Depending on what was clicked, you will get a different menu. Release the 'Ctrl' key and select the menu item you want and click the mouse again. The right click is now complete.

How to Troubleshoot Mac USB Issues (7 Steps)
Check that the USB device is connected to the appropriate jack. There is a USB jack in the back of most keyboards, but it often only works with a mouse.
Unplug any USB devices and wait a few moments before reconnecting them. You can often fix problems with your USB keyboard and mouse by using this method. Try restarting your computer if the malfunction persists after you reconnect the USB device.
Test your USB peripherals in another computer. If the problem exists in the second computer, you may need to have the device serviced or look for an updated version of the firmware that supports your USB item. Check the manufacturer's website for these updates.
Try different devices in the same USB port. For example, if your mouse if behaving strangely, see whether an external drive or an iPod is able to connect to the computer via that USB port.
Disconnect any USB hubs that you're using and connect each device one at a time to your computer. You need to troubleshoot the devices individually to find out whether the USB hub or the one of the devices is causing the problem. Be sure to test each peripheral with a working USB cable.
Reset the parameter random access memory (PRAM) and nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) on your computer. Turn off your computer, then restart it and immediately press and hold the 'Command,' 'Option,' 'P' and 'R' keys on the keyboard. Release the keys after you hear the startup chime for the third time and your computer should boot normally.
Consider reinstalling the operating system after clearing your computer's hard drive. Be sure to back up all of your data before you erase the disc. You may also want to bring the computer to a Mac service center and have the logic board examined.

How to Clean Up a Mac OS X Hard Drive
Back up your hard drive. This helps protect your personal files if you accidentally delete a file while cleaning up the Mac OS X hard drive. Use a portable hard drive or flash disk, blank CDs or DVDs or an online backup service.
Empty your Mac OS X trash bin. When you delete an item on a Mac, it is placed in the 'Trash' in your Mac OS X dock. However, it still takes up hard drive space until you clean out the Mac hard drive by emptying the trash. Click 'Finder' in the top menu bar and select 'Empty Trash' from the drop-down menu.
Archive files that you do not regularly use. This consolidates multiple files and folders into a single file and also compresses the data size so that it takes up less room on your Mac OS X hard drive. Drag any documents, pictures or folders into a single folder. Right-click on the folder and select 'Archive' from the pop-up menu. Mac OS X will compress each individual file into a single file. Optionally, drag this archived file onto a backup volume (such as a blank CD) and delete the original off of your Mac OS X hard drive.
Run a 'cron' cleanup software program to delete unused system files and logs that may be taking up space on your Mac OS X hard drive. Examples include Monolingual and Cocktail. Both programs run automated scripts that quickly scan and erase unused system folders.
Uninstall unused applications. Over the course of time, you may have cluttered your Mac OS X hard drive with various software installations. Click 'Applications' in your dock and drag any unused programs to the trash bin. Empty the trash.
