How to Make a Quality Video on a MacBook Pro
Position the MacBook Pro so it's facing the subject that you want to shoot video of. For example, you could place it on a table and have people sitting in chairs across from the laptop. The MacBook Pro’s built-in camera is located just above the display.
Click “iMovie” on the dock of your MacBook Pro to launch Apple’s native video making application.
Click “File” from iMovie’s menu, and then click “Import from Camera.” The video recording window opens, and the light next to the built-in HD FaceTime automatically turns on, showing that the camera is working.
Click the “Capture” button in the video recording window. A dialog box appears. Click the “Save To” drop-down menu, and then click a folder on your MacBook Pro where you want to save the video.
Click the “Capture” button again to start shooting video. You can pick up the MacBook Pro and walk around if you want to create a moving shot, such as for documentary-style footage. You could also sit in a chair and hold the MacBook while someone pushes you around to get a smoother tracking shot.
Click the “Stop” button on the Video Capture window when you're finished, and then click “Done.” A thumbnail image of the video appears in the iMovie Event Library pane. Shoot more videos clips with the camera to make different scenes. For example, you could shoot over the shoulder of one person during a dialog, showing the other person’s face, and then switch angles to shoot over the shoulder of the other person. You could move the MacBook far away to get a long shot of a scene showing everyone in the room, and then shoot another segment with close-ups.
Drag the thumbnails for each video segment that you shot into the Projects panel. Drag the thumbnails to the left or the right to reposition them in the time line. Click a thumbnail and drag the right edge to the left to shorten a clip.
Click the transition button, marked with an icon of two triangles on the iMovie toolbar, to add a transition between two clips. The Transitions browser opens. Drag a transition, such as Dissolve or Wipe, in between two clips to apply it.
Click the title button, marked with an icon of the letter “T” on the iMovie toolbar, to add text to your video. The Titles browser opens, with various static and animated title styles. Drag a title style thumbnail onto the clip’s thumbnail to apply it. Double-click the clip’s thumbnail to see it in the Viewer panel with the text box superimposed above the video. Click the text box and type your own words to replace the placeholder text.
Click the music button, marked with a musical note on the toolbar, to add music to your video. The music browser opens. Click a folder containing the music you want to use. Drag the name of a sound effect or music track onto the thumbnail of a video to add it to your movie.
Click “Share” from the iMovie menu, and then click an option to export the video, such as “QuickTime.” Type a name for the exported video, and then click the folder on your Mac where you want to save it. Click “Save.”

How to Do a Mac Backup to an External Drive (13 Steps)
Download Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC).
Double-click the DMG file you downloaded to mount the CCC disk image. In the window that appears, drag the CCC icon to the 'Applications' folder alias to copy CCC to your Applications folder.
Launch CCC from your Applications folder. The first time you launch the program, click the 'Agree' button in the drop-down pane to acknowledge the license agreement, then click 'No Thanks' to proceed to the main interface.
Select your Mac's built-in hard drive from the 'Source Disk' drop-down menu, then select your external hard drive from the 'Target Disk' drop-down menu. If your external hard drive is not in the list, power it on and connect it to your Mac, making sure its icon appears on your desktop. Leave the 'Backup everything' option selected in the 'Cloning options:' drop-down menu, unless you only wish to back up some of your Mac's data. You can also choose 'Incremental backup of selected items', then specify which files to copy using the checkboxes in the file list that appears in the left pane of the window. Note that the external hard drive must be formatted using the HFS+ file system to create a backup with CCC (see References 1).
Click 'Clone' to begin the process. Then Enter your administrator password when prompted to do so, and wait until the process completes. Be sure that you have rewiewed the backup scheme you've specified in the 'What is going to happen:' field near the bottom of the window.

How to Drain a MacBook Battery
Unplug the power cable from your MacBook and run the computer from the battery. Plugging in the cable will recharge the battery, so avoid doing this until you have fully drained the battery.
Click the 'Apple' button on your MacBook's desktop and click 'System Preferences.' Click 'Energy Saver.' Select 'Battery' from the 'Settings for' drop-down list. Select 'Better Performance' from the 'Optimization' drop-down list. This will disable many of the MacBook's battery-saving settings.
Plug in USB powered devices such as a keyboard, mouse and flash drive. These devices draw power from your laptop's battery to function and will help drain the battery faster.
Click the 'AirPort Wireless' icon from the MacBook's menu bar and click 'Turn AirPort on.' Close the 'Available Networks' screen that loads. You don't have to connect to a network to drain your battery faster with this wireless utility.
Click the Bluetooth logo from your computer's menu bar and click 'Turn Bluetooth on.' Again, you do not need to connect a Bluetooth device to drain battery power with this feature.
Open up as many applications as you can without freezing the computer. This will tax your system's resources and accelerate battery usage.
Insert a DVD into the MacBook's disc drive and play the movie. This will further tax your system resources, force your battery to power the drive and give you something to watch while your battery quickly drains to empty. The computer will shut down when the battery is fully drained.

My MacBook Will Not Connect to Wireless Internet
Open the list of available wireless networks and select the desired network. Input a password if necessary. If the network fails to load, double check that the password has been properly typed and that the caps lock function is off. Select 'Join Other Network...' from the drop-down networks list and type in the name of your desired network, inputting the password if necessary.
Turn of the Wi-Fi access on your computer. Close all your Internet browser windows and close the browser programs themselves. Shut down all additional programs operating on your MacBook. Shut down the computer and give a few minutes of inactivity before turning it back on again. Open the Internet browser and reactivate the Wi-Fi connection.
Restart the wireless router, if accessible, by pressing the reset button using a pen or a paper clip. The reset button should be located on the rear of the router, and should be a recessed button that is clearly marked. If you cannot access this button, simply unplug the router, leave it off for a few minutes, then plug it in again and give it time to start up.

How to Permanently Remove Programs From a Macbook
Locate the program you want to remove from your MacBook in your 'Applications' folder. To access your 'Applications' folder, click the Finder icon in your Dock to open a new Finder window, then click the 'Applications' folder shortcut link in the left column of the Finder window.
Drag the application icon and drop it in your Trash. Unless the program specifically came with uninstall software, moving it to the Trash is the primary method of removing it from your MacBook.
Select 'Finder' from the top menu bar of your MacBook's desktop, then select 'Secure Empty Trash.' You can also empty your Trash to remove a program from your MacBook; it won't be visibly present, but you might be able to recover it.
Click 'OK' when prompted by your MacBook to securely empty your Trash and permanently remove the program from your MacBook. The 'Secure Empty Trash' function will take significantly more time than just emptying your Trash. Depending on the contents of your Trash, the process could take 30 minutes or more. Do not attempt to open or move items to your Trash until the 'Secure Empty Trash' function has finished.
