How to Extract IPSW From iTunes (6 Steps)

Launch iTunes by clicking its icon on the desktop.
Connect your iPhone, iPod or other iOS-powered device to the computer using its USB cable. ITunes will automatically add it to the 'Devices' list in the left-hand column.
Select your iOS device from the 'Devices' list and open the 'Summary' tab. Click the 'Update' button followed by the 'Download Only' button in the dialog box that pops up. This will download the latest IPSW file from Apple to your computer, but won't install it on your iOS device.
Open the 'Home Folder' on your Mac and navigate to the 'Library\Application Support\iTunes' folder. On a Windows PC, open the 'My Documents' folder and navigate to the 'AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes' folder.
Click the folder that corresponds to your iOS device to open it. For example, if you downloaded the IPSW file for an iPhone, open the 'iPhone Software Update' folder.
Right-click the file that has an '.ipsw' file extension and select 'Copy.' Open the folder on your computer that you want to extract the IPSW file to, right-click anywhere inside the window and select 'Paste.'

How to Permanently Remove Programs From a Macbook

Locate the program you want to remove from your MacBook in your 'Applications' folder. To access your 'Applications' folder, click the Finder icon in your Dock to open a new Finder window, then click the 'Applications' folder shortcut link in the left column of the Finder window.
Drag the application icon and drop it in your Trash. Unless the program specifically came with uninstall software, moving it to the Trash is the primary method of removing it from your MacBook.
Select 'Finder' from the top menu bar of your MacBook's desktop, then select 'Secure Empty Trash.' This action permanently wipes your Trash, which means you will not be able to recover your files, even with recovery software. You can also empty your Trash to remove a program from your MacBook; it won't be visibly present, but you might be able to recover it.
Click 'OK' when prompted by your MacBook to securely empty your Trash and permanently remove the program from your MacBook. The 'Secure Empty Trash' function will take significantly more time than just emptying your Trash. Depending on the contents of your Trash, the process could take 30 minutes or more. Do not attempt to open or move items to your Trash until the 'Secure Empty Trash' function has finished.

How to View Running Processes on Mac OS X (4 Steps)

Click the “Applications” folder if it’s pinned to your Dock, scroll down and select the “Utilities” folder and then click “Activity Monitor” to launch Activity Monitor. Alternatively, you can also open Activity Monitor by searching for “Activity Monitor” in the Search field on the Launchpad and then selecting “Activity Monitor” from the search results.
Scroll through the processes listed in the Process Name column on the far left side of Activity Monitor. Each process currently running on your computer appears on its own line in this column. Follow along the row to the right of the process name to read its statistics.
Click the name of a process and then click the “i” icon located above the Process Name column. Clicking this icon displays a brief snapshot of information about the selected process, including how much CPU and memory it’s using, how long it has been active and which files and ports it’s using.
Select a tab along the top of the Activity Monitor window to view how processes are using resources on your Mac. Available tabs in OS X Mavericks include CPU, Memory, Energy, Disk and Network. Each tab then has an associated list of sub-sections that help you to further drill down into process resource usage.
