How to Attach a Video to an Email for a MAC (7 Steps)

Record the event on a digital video camera. If you own an iPhone, 3GS, you can record video on the phone. If you own a separate digital recorder, make sure you have an appropriate cable or connector to the USB port on a Macintosh computer. USB is standard-sized, as the name implies, Universal Serial Bus.
If you own a Flip, after you have recorded the event, simply plug the camera into the USB port on the Mac computer, and double click on the 'FlipVideo' icon that appears on your desktop. The Flip comes with software that needs to be installed on your Mac. Click on the 'Flip Video for Mac' icon that appears inside the desktop Flip icon, and it will automatically install the appropriate software.Inside the FlipVideo icon, a window opens and your video is stored inside the DCIM folder. Drag the file to your desktop. If you own an iPhone, you have choices. After recording the video, if your iPhone is linked to a cloud computing e-mail service, like Mobil Me or gmail, you can select the 'share' icon in the lower left corner of the video screen, and the choice of sending your recording as an SMS message, or as an email, will be available.Or, you can sync your iPhone with your Mac computer, and the video will appear in iPhoto, and the option of e-mailing it from that software program, again under the 'Share' menu, will be offered. If you don't own a Flip or an iPhone, connect your video camera to your computer, and transfer the file to your Mac desktop.
After the video file has been moved to the Mac desktop, launch the mail application on your computer. On a Macintosh, this can include Apple's proprietary software, Mail, Mozilla's Thunderbird or Microsoft Office Entourage.
Create a new email document, and complete the address line with the intended recipient(s). Put a descriptive statement in the subject line, and then write a brief description in the body of the email.
At the top of the email in all three Mac mail applications, there is an icon or a text that is either a paper clip, or the word 'Attachment' or both. Click on this button and a dialog window opens.
Navigate to your desktop and click on the video file to 'attach' it to your email.
Click 'Send,' and the email, with the video attached, is on its way.

How to Connect a MacBook to a Dell External Monitor

Check to see if your Dell monitor has a VGA or DVI connection. VGA is an older technology, but many monitors have adapters for both connection and include two cables: one VGA and one DVI. Likewise, check your MacBook to see if it has a DVI or Mini DisplayPort jack. Locate the appropriate adapter if required.
Confirm that both the MacBook and the external Dell monitor are powered down. Attach the video cable to the Dell monitor. The other end must be attached to the MacBook, either directly or using the adapter.
Confirm that the adapter and cable are seated properly. Make sure that the connection area is out of the way of anything that might knock it out of place or possibly damage the adapter and/or computer by bending the pins.
Turn on the Dell monitor first and the MacBook second. When the computer is finished booting up, you will see the desktop on both displays.
Launch the System Preferences (found inside the Applications folder) and click on 'Displays.' A 'Display' pane will appear on both the MacBook screen and on the Dell monitor screen. Note that you can configure the resolution of each of these displays separately.
Select a suitable resolution for each of the displays. Then click on the 'Arrangement' tab on the pane on the Mac screen. This is when you decide how you want to configure the arrangement of your displays. You can drag the Dell display to either side of the Mac display to extend the desktop, or you can select “Mirror Displays,” which is usually enabled when you plan on using the external monitor as the main display.
Drag the menu bar from the Mac display to the Dell display in the 'Arrangement' pane if you want to use the Dell as your primary display and have the Mac menus on the external monitor. You can also configure the color on both displays by clicking on the “Color” tab.

How to Take a Professional Headshot Using Photo Booth and iPhoto

Check your hair, makeup and clothing. You should be wearing what you want for your headshot before you open up Photo Booth. Have at least one change of clothing so you have a choice later. If you have long hair, be prepared to shoot some photos with your hair up and then down. Be sure your hair and makeup showcase your best qualities.
Choose a location with natural lighting or set up some lights. Your face should be clear without any hard shadows. Early morning or evening would work if you are taking the photographs outside. However, if your computer is not portable, you need to find somewhere inside to take the headshots. Be sure there is nothing distracting behind you.
Plug your video camera into your computer, unless you have an iSight camera built into your computer. Open the Photo Booth application on your Mac, since this application is only found on Apple computers. Turn your video camera to standby.
View yourself on the computer screen. Avoid taking pictures with you looking up or down at your camera. You want to look directly at the camera. Frame the shot so you see mostly your face and the top of your chest. Be sure Photo Booth has no effects clicked on. Choose the center button in Effects.
Press the Shutter Button when you are ready. The application has a 3 second countdown before flashing and taking the photo. Hold your facial expression for the shot. Try different sides of your face and different expressions.
Change your shirt or top for a new set of photos. Change your hair or makeup if needed. Press the shutter button when you are ready. Take as many photos as you want.
Open up your iPhoto application to view your photos. Photo Booth automatically saves your photos into your Pictures file. Click on the 'File' tab in iPhoto. Press 'Import to Library,' which automatically opens the Pictures file.
Click the photograph you want to import and then press 'Import' at the bottom left side. Repeat for each headshot you want to import. The photos should group together in the same event. If not, press 'Last Import' of the right side of the screen.
Double-click on a headshot that you want to open up large. Look for any stray hairs or areas that are out of focus. Double-click the image again to go back to the Events page with all your headshots.
Edit the photo if you need to. Click 'Edit' at the bottom of the application. This function allows you to rotate, enhance, fix red-eye, straighten, crop or retouch your picture. Click on the function you want to use. You can also click 'Revert to Original' if you need the old picture again.
Click 'Share' to order prints from Apple for your headshots. Choose the 8-by-10-inch size in matte glossy. If you have a printer and matte photo paper, click the 'File' tab at the top. The print box should appear. Be sure it is going to your chosen printer and is going to print on photo paper.
Turn your printer on and put photo paper into it. Click 'Print Size' at the bottom right corner. Press 'Custom' for the size. Write eight for width and ten for height. Click 'OK.' Then, press 'Print' to print it out.

How to Connect a VCR to a Mac

You'll need an Apple DVI-to-video adapter for your Mac. Some MacBooks and older iBooks and PowerBooks were shipped with the adapter, so you may have one available. The DVI-to-video adapter is a small device that essentially makes it possible to feed a signal to the VCR or any device with an S-Video port.
Different Mac models require different video adapters. The good news is that the adapter is relatively inexpensive. iMac models have a mini-DVI port and will use the Apple Mini-DVI-to-video adapter. The MacBook and the 12' PowerBook G4 also use this adapter. The Mac Pros have a standard DVI port and require the Apple DVI-to-video adapter. MacBook Pro, Mac Mini and Power Mac G5 computers will also use the latter adapter.
Connect the DVI adapter to your Mac, then connect the S-Video cable to the S-Video output port of the DVI adapter. If you have a VCR with an S-Video input, simply connect the S-Video cable to the VCR's S-Video input port. Most new VCRs are S-VCRs. Your S-VCR is now ready to record input from your Mac.
If you are using an older VCR without an S-Video input, you will need to purchase an S-Video-to-component video converter. You also might be able to use a digital camcorder as a pass-through device, connecting the S-Video to the camcorder while it is paused in record mode and running S-Video out to the VCR.
