How to Use a USB Hub on a MacBook (3 Steps)

Plug the power adapter of the USB hub into the wall outlet, if you are using a self-powered USB hub. Self-powered USB hubs provide more power to any connected devices than bus-powered USB hubs.
Insert the USB connector of the hub into the USB port closest to you when you face your MacBook.
Plug your USB devices into the ports on the hub. Some devices run solely on the power from the USB connection, while others include a plug for a wall outlet. Your devices will be active as soon as they are connected and have power.

How to Find Out What Is Damaged If I Dropped My MacBook Pro

Open the MacBook Pro. Inspect the screen for cracks, chips or other damage. Verify that the computer opens smoothly and closes securely.
Select the 'Apple' menu and then 'Restart' to restart the computer. Damage to the internal hard drive isn't always evident until the next reboot, so it's important that you perform this troubleshooting step. If the MacBook Pro doesn't power on at all, plug it in to ensure that it has an adequate power supply.
Open iTunes and play any song to rule out damage to the MacBook's audio card and audio output. Optionally, plug a headphone set into the computer's headphone jack to make sure the jack has not been damaged.
Connect to a Wi-Fi network using AirPort. Open Safari and navigate to a website to make sure the Internet adapter still works. Navigate to a video website such as YouTube or Vimeo and confirm that the video card functions properly and you are able to play a video.
Launch a chat program such as Skype or iChat and begin a video chat with a friend. If you see your own image in the corner of the screen, it means your webcam is still functioning.
Monitor how quickly your battery power drains when the MacBook Pro isn't plugged in to ascertain whether battery damage has occurred. If the battery drains significantly faster than it did before, the battery is damaged.
