How to Convert Cassette Tapes to CD for Mac (9 Steps)

Download 'Audacity.' This is a free audio editing program made for Mac computers. A link to the download page is available in 'Resources.'
Connect the RCA to 3.5 mm headphones jack into the microphone port on the Mac. This adapter has a single end that looks exactly like the end on a pair of headphones. The other end of the adapter has a red and white port used to connect RCA cables.
Plug the red and white RCA cables into the Audio Out ports on the back of a tape deck. This is typically where the speakers are connected. Connect the other end of the RCA cables to the RCA ports on the 3.5 mm headphones adapter.
Launch the Audacity program. There is an icon on your desktop for it.
Click the 'Default Input Source' setting. This brings up a list of the devices connected to the Mac. It is currently set to the default microphone connected internally to your Mac. Change this to 'Line In.'
Click the 'System Preferences' icon on your dock (it looks like clock gears) and select 'Sound.' Things brings up a small options window. Select the 'Input' tab and click on 'Line In.' Close out the System Preferences and return to Audacity.
Put the tape into the tape player and press the 'Play' button. At the same time click the 'Record' button on Audacity. This begins the recording process. Click 'Stop' at the end of the first song. Select 'File' followed by 'Export as MP3.' This brings up a save window. Title the file and select a location to save to.
Repeat the recording process for all tracks on your cassette tape.
Launch iTunes and click 'File,' then 'New Playlist.' Title the playlist, then click and drag the files you created from the tape into the program. Insert a blank CD into the Mac and click 'Burn.' The songs are now placed onto the music CD.

How to Connect a Laptop to Sony Bravia (4 Steps)

Decide whether you will use a VGA or DVI cable. If your laptop has a DVI port, use it as it delivers better graphics than the VGA. If it does not have a DVI port, use the VGA cable. Note that the instructions are the same regardless of what cable you use.
Connect the cable to the laptop's port, then connect it to the Sony Bravia. The ports for both devices are typically found in the back of the device. Be sure that both ends of the cable are secured to the ports.
Change the input display on the Sony Bravia to the input that corresponds to the port you are using.
Set your laptop to display using the DVI or VGA port. Typically, you would press the 'Fn' key followed by the key that shows a laptop display on it. This will display the laptop on the Bravia. This key combination normally toggles the laptop's display among laptop only, laptop and external monitor, and external monitor only. You can also change the settings on the computer by going to 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' and looking for the display settings.

How to Hook Up an HDMI Cable to a TV DVR

Power off your TV and DVR.
Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI output port on your DVR. The port will be on the back panel, typically near the center.
Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to an HDMI input on your TV. Most newer sets have multiple HDMI inputs, allow you to choose the best input for your DVR.
Power on your DVR and TV. Use your TV's remote to switch to the HDMI input into which you plugged the DVR. Typically this is done by either hitting the 'INPUT' button or 'HDMI' button on your remote. Once the input switches you will see the display from your DVR on your TV.
Use your DVR's remote to enter the device's settings menu. Refer to your DVR's owner's manual for the exact process. Set the output resolution on your DVR to the maximum resolution your TV will accept, typically 1080p.

How to Make My Wireless Network Invisible

Enter the administration interface for your router or access point. Use your Web browser to connect to this interface by navigating to the address required by your device (for example, http://192.168.1.1).
Browse to the wireless setting page in the administration interface. This page typically includes options for changing the wireless network mode, wireless network name, wireless channel, and the SSID (Service Set IDentifier) broadcast.
Disable the SSID broadcast and save your settings. The router or access point should reboot to enable the new settings.
Enable the SSID only when performing networking maintenance or connecting other computers to the network. However, even without the SSID broadcast, you can connect to your network by simply manually entering the network name, so try to keep the SSID broadcast disabled at all times.
Continue to use encryption such as WPA (or WEP, if WPA is not available on your device). Disabling SSID can help thwart casual outsiders, but more experienced intruders can still use sniffing techniques to find and access your network. Encryption can help prevent such intrusions.
