How to Take Screenshots on a MacBook (6 Steps)


Press and hold the 'Command,' 'Shift' and '3' keys at the same time to take a screen shot of your entire screen and save it to your Desktop.
Press and hold the 'Command,' 'Shift' and '4' keys at the same time to take a screen shot selection and save it to your Desktop. Use the cursor to select the area you want to capture in your image and release the mouse to take your screen shot.
Press and hold the 'Command,' 'Shift' and '4' keys at the same time and then press the 'Space' bar to take a screen shot of a specific application window and save it to your Desktop. The frontmost window will turn blue upon entering the key command. Move your mouse to the desired window and click to take your screen shot.
Press and hold the 'Command,' 'CTRL,' 'Shift' and '3' keys at the same time to take a screen shot and save it directly to the clipboard. You can then paste your screen shot into any open application.
Press and hold the 'Command,' 'CTRL,' 'Shift' and '4' keys at the same time to take a screen shot selection and save it to the clipboard. As in Step 2, use the cursor to select your area and release the mouse to take you screen shot.
Press and hold the 'Command,' 'CTRL,' 'Shift' and '4' keys at the same time, and then press the 'Space' bar to take a screen shot of a specific window and save it to the clipboard. As in Step 3, move your mouse to the window to select and click to take your screen shot.
