How to Reset MacBook Firmware

Power on the MacBook and wait for a warning message that reads 'To continue booting, type 'mac-boot' and press return' to appear on the screen. The firmware on your MacBook must only be reset in the event that this message appears.
Enter 'reset-nvram' in the prompt following the warning message. This resets the non-volatile memory on the computer. This type of memory does not lose information when the computer is reset.
Press the 'Return' key.
Type 'reset-all' at the next command line prompt, and press 'Return' to reset the firmware on your MacBook. This also forces the computer to restart.
Wait for the MacBook to reboot. By the time the laptop restarts and boots into Mac OS X, the firmware is successfully reset.
