How to Connect a Mac to Apple TV (6 Steps)
Remove the Apple TV device from its packaging, and find the HDMI port cable that came with it. Connect the cable to your Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the white, red, green and blue audio cables to the Apple TV and your TV. The setup of these cables depends on your television's audio capabilities. Plug the power cord into the Apple TV, and plug it into a power supply.
Turn on your TV, and go to the setup screen for the Apple TV. This will depend on the input channel setup on your TV.
Select a network to connect to in the prompts that appear with your Apple TV remote. Enter the password to get access to the network with the remote. Once the Apple TV is on the network and set up, you will see a main screen with 'Movies,' 'Internet,' 'Computers' and 'Settings' tabs.
Go to your Mac computer, and launch iTunes. Click 'Advanced' and then choose 'Turn On Home Sharing.' Enter your Apple ID and password in the fields, and click the 'Create Home Share' button. Click the 'Done' button.
Go back to your TV, and toggle to the 'Computer' tab. Choose 'Home Sharing,' enter the password with the remote, and click 'Done.' The Apple TV is now connected to the Mac through iTunes.
