How to Reset a Logic Board

Power off and unplug the computer.
Remove the side cover of the computer case.
Locate the jumper on the logic board to clear the CMOS NVRAM. Refer to the motherboard manual for details.
Move the jumper to the 'clear' position. Typically, the jumper resides on two of three pins. By moving the jumper to include the missing pin, the CMOS NVRAM is reset.
Move the jumper back to the original position.
Replace the computer's side cover and power on the computer. The logic board has been reset.

How to Fix a MagSafe Power Adapter (4 Steps)

Make sure the power outlet you plug your power adaptor into is working properly. Test the power outlet by plugging an appliance that you know works, such as a lamp or a television, into it.
It is normal for the power adapter to heat up a little during use. Disconnect your adapter and let it cool off if it overheats. The adapter should function correctly after it has cooled.
Your MagSafe adapter may malfunction due to the pins located in the connector getting stuck. For example, all of the pins may get stuck in a downward position. When a pin gets stuck, unplug the power adapter from the power port and plug it back in. This makes the pins shift and set themselves again into a neutral position. If you are having trouble getting the pins to reset themselves, press them gently sideways with a non-abrasive object such as your finger.
Check the power port on your Apple computer and the adapter connector on your MagSafe for any damage, and clean them both. Clean the computer port or the power adapter plug by taking the adapter out of the outlet or by taking the battery out of the computer. Clean the connectors carefully using small, precise tools, such as a cotton swab or a toothbrush with soft bristles. Ensure no cotton fibers stick to the pins. Use rubbing alcohol if you want to clean the connectors thoroughly. Ensure that all connectors are completely dry before using your adapter or computer.

How to Optimize Battery Life on a MacBook (7 Steps)

Charge your MacBook by connecting it to a power adapter until the onscreen indicator bar on your Desktop reaches 100 percent and the light on your adapter cord is green.
Continue charging your MacBook for at least two hours after you reach a full charge. You can use your MacBook during the two-hour period, but don't unplug it.
Unplug your MacBook, allowing it to run using the battery power. You will need to let the battery run completely down, so it is a good idea to save your work.
Continue using your MacBook---or leave it on---until the battery gets low and you see the warning dialog box pop up. Do not plug in your MacBook.
Allow your computer to automatically go to sleep and subsequently turn itself off.
Leave your computer turned off for at least five hours.
Reconnect your MacBook to the power adapter and charge it until it is full.

How to Remove an Apple Mac Hard Drive (9 Steps)

Back up all of your data. Before attempting to remove your existing hard drive, it is essential to save all of your data.
Shut down your computer and let it cool for 30 minutes. You will not want to attempt to remove a hard drive that has been running because the internal components may be too hot to handle.
Unplug all cords from the laptop, including the power source.
Turn the computer upside down and lay it on the soft lint-free cloth.
Release the battery hatch by taking a coin and turning it counterclockwise. The battery should pop right out.
Touch the metal surface underneath the battery. This will discharge any static charge and is extremely important to do before proceeding.
Remove the three screws along the RAM door. These are located on north side of the RAM door.
Remove the RAM door, an L-shaped bracket, that you previously loosened.
Unroll the hard drive pull tab. You will see a white tab that looks like tape. Pull it slowly to remove the hard drive.

How to Test a Power Adapter on a Mac (6 Steps)

Connect the 'Magsafe' end of the connector to the power supply port on the left side of the Mac laptop. Connect the two-pronged power supply to a wall outlet or power strip. The light on the 'Magsafe' connector end should light up. If it does not, proceed to Step 2.
Verify a secure connection. Gently pull out the Magsafe connector, then reconnect it to the laptop. Wait a few seconds for the status light to come on. If it does not, unplug the power supply and try another wall outlet or power strip outlet.
Turn on the laptop. Once the Mac OS X desktop loads, click the 'battery icon' in the upper right of the screen. Look for either 'Battery is charged' or 'Battery is charging' in the drop-down menu. If you see neither of these phrases, proceed to Step 4.
Unplug the power supply again from the wall outlet or power strip. Verify that the 'adapter' plug on the end remains securely in place. The Apple power adapter has a removable plug that allows you to connect the Apple power supply extension cable; check that the removable plug remains firmly in place.
Reconnect the power supply plug to the outlet. If the status light still does not turn on or the 'battery icon' does not indicate a fully charged battery or charging battery, proceed to Step 6.
Unplug the 'Magsafe' end of the adapter from the computer. Reconnect it to another Mac laptop. Note that some Apple adapters have different 'Magsafe' plugs, including barrel-shaped, T-shaped and L-style plugs. Verify that your adapter matches the power supply port on the second Mac laptop before connecting. If the second laptop begins charging, the issue lies with the first laptop and the adapter is functioning properly. If the second laptop fails to begin charging, you'll need a replacement power adapter.
