How to Find a Macbook's Manufacture Date (4 Steps)

Click on the 'Apple' icon located on the desktop, in the upper left hand corner of your MacBook's Finder window.
Scroll down to 'About This Mac,' then click on the 'More Info' button at the bottom of the window.
Note the 'Hardware Overview' pane on the right side of the window. Locate the 'Serial Number (system):' toward the bottom of the list. Locate the serial number for your Macbook in the 'Hardware Overview' window that opens. The serial number is composed of characters and letters, and contains the manufacture date.
Note that the first two characters in the serial number signify the location where your computer was manufactured. Examine the third character in the string, which is a single digit. This is the year your MacBook was manufactured. For instance, if the numeral is '8,' your computer was made in 2008; the numeral '0' would signify that the manufacture date is 2010, since the MacBook was not released in the year 2000. Now look at the fourth and fifth characters which signify the week that the MacBook was manufactured. The digits '12' for instance, would mean that the notebook was made in the 12th week of the year, which is the third week in March.

How to Eject Flash Drive on Macintosh (4 Steps)

When you insert your flash drive into the USB port, does it have a little light that blinks on and off? If it does, that's good, because that light tells you when the computer is accessing the drive. Most drives have a blinky light, but if yours doesn't, consider buying a different one.
When you want to remove your flash drive, you first have to 'dismount' the disk from the system. On a PC there's a little menu item in the lower right corner where you can choose 'safely remove hardware' or something like that. On a Mac, you have several choices to remove the drive. The easiest and most common way is to drag the disk's icon to the trash.(Note that when you do this, the trash icon turns into an 'eject' icon - which is a line and a triangle pointing upward. In the old days people used to be afraid to drag their disks to the trash can for fear they would delete their files. So they changed the icon.)
Wait until the icon disappears from the desktop, but DON'T PULL IT OUT OF THE USB PORT YET. Look at the flash drive. Is the light blinking? If so, leave it in. When it stops blinking, you can pull it out.
Sometimes the computer refuses to let the flash drive eject. It will tell you that files on it are still in use. It can't eject as long as the computer is using the drive. The problem is that your applications sometimes use the drive, even after you are finished. So if you get this message, first make sure all docments are closed, and if that doesn't work, quit any applications you were using with the flashdrive. (Glance down at your dock - there will be a little black triangle under each icon with an open application.)If your computer just won't let go of your thumb drive, even with all applications closed, you can try two other measures. Use option-command-escape to bring up the 'force quit' window, and choose the Finder. You can't actually quit the Finder, but you can 'restart' it, and that will cause the screen to blink and redraw. If all other applications are closed, you should be able to eject your flash drive after that.On rare occasions, some process may still be locking up your flash drive. The last resort is to shut your computer down. When it's off, it's always safe to remove the usb flash drive or thumb drive.

How to Share a MacBook With Another Laptop

Select the “Apple” menu in the upper left corner of the Mac OS X desktop. Select “System Preferences.”
Select “Sharing.”
Place a check next to “File Sharing” (by clicking the box) to turn file sharing on. Make note of the “Computer Name” as this is what the MacBook will be listed as over the network.
Click the “+” button beneath “Shared Folders” to add the folders you’d like to share over the network with the other laptop computers. By default, the “Public” folder is shared.
Select “Options...” and then enable “Share files and folders using AFP” to easily share your files with other Apple computers over the network. If you are planning to share your files with a Windows computer, enable “Share files and folders using SMB (Windows).' You will need to enable a user account for Windows sharing. Turn on the account you wish to share (by clicking the box) and enter the password as prompted. Click “Done” to apply the changes and close “System Preferences.”
Select “Network” from the Finder’s “Go” menu bar on the laptop you are using to connect to the MacBook you just configured. The MacBook will be listed and accessible for file sharing (provided they are on the same network). Open “My Network Places” (or “Network” in Windows 7) within Windows Explorer to view and access the MacBook from a Windows machine. You will need the user account and password to gain access.
