How to Replace a Macbook Screen (6 Steps)

Drain the battery, turn off your MacBook and disconnect it from any and all external power sources.
Remove all screws from the outside of the computer with the Phillips head screwdriver. Lay them out in a pattern that will allow you to put each individual screw back into its original location.
Remove the keyboard assembly and internal hardware of the computer. The system board is located directly underneath the keyboard and must be separated first. After the system board is out, proceed with the keyboard. This requires more unscrewing and may involve the disconnection of one or two delicate cables. Remove the screws slowly with your phillips head screwdriver, and remove the cables softly with your fingers. The exact number of screws and cables will depend on your version and generation of MacBook.
Disconnect the display cables connecting the screen to the motherboard. Use your plastic putty knife to gently lift up the top casing holding the screen into place. Remove the screws around the screen, and disconnect the cables at the bottom of the screen from the plastic part of the MacBook that connects with the bottom half. Remove the screws on either side of the screen holding it to the brackets, there will be two or three on each side. Remove the sleep magnet on the left side of the screen. Remove the screws from the top, and carefully remove the tape from the back of the screen. Separate the miniature webcam and remove the old screen from the side brackets.
Install the new screen. You will go through the exact same process as before, but in reverse. Place the new screen in the same position as the old one, place the brackets around it, replace the webcam and tape down the wires. Replace the screws into the brackets and the sleep magnet on the left side. Secure the screen into the top casing and proceed with reassembly.
Reassemble your MacBook. Install all components exactly as they were.

How to Solve Mic Problems on a Mac (5 Steps)

Restart your computer. Click the Apple menu icon at the top of the desktop and then click 'Restart' from the pull-down menu. Click 'Restart' in the dialog box to confirm the computer's reboot. A computer restart forces all open applications to shut down, which releases an application's use of the microphone.
Check your computer's volume settings once the computer has restarted. Click the Apple menu icon and click 'System Preferences' to access your computer's system manager. Click 'Sound' and make sure 'Internal microphone' is displayed in the device section. Drag the slider on the microphone tab to the right to increase the microphone input volume. Make sure the checkbox next to the mute option is unchecked.
Remove all external audio attachments and close all open applications. Hold and press 'Command' and 'Q' on your keyboard to exit each application. If the application is unresponsive when attempting to quit, click the Apple menu icon, click 'Force Quit' and then click the name of the application in the window. Click 'Force Quit' to confirm the action and then restart the application to test the microphone.
Update your sound drivers. Click 'Software Update' from the Apple menu on your desktop and then click the checkbox next to any operating system or driver updates. Click 'Install Item' and enter your administrator password. Click 'OK' to install the update and restart the computer.
Re-assign your microphone settings. Click 'System Preferences' from the Apple menu on the desktop and then click 'Sound.' Click the 'Input' tab in the 'Sound' window and then insert an external microphone's adapter into the headphones port on your Macintosh computer. Click 'Line In' in the sound input window to select the connected microphone as the new default device.
