How to Transfer Videos From a DVR to an iPod

Turn on your DVR and scroll through the video you would like to record. Connect the RCA cables from the DVR output to your computer. Make sure that you are going from the highest output of your DVR to the input of your computer.
Start your computer's capture software (see Resources section). Make sure that the capture software is picking up the video signal properly and that there are no glitches in the picture.
Start recording on your capture software. Start the video that you would like to record from your DVR and look for it on your computer. Wait until it has finished.
Stop the recording software after the program has concluded. Save the file to the desktop on your computer for future reference.
Open your video editing software (see Resources section) and wait for it to load. Click on the 'File' menu and then 'Open.' Open the file that you just recorded and let it upload to your editing software.
Click on the 'Convert' tab in your editing software and transcribe the video format to MPEG-4 format. If you do not put the video into MPEG-4 format, your iPod will not be able to read it. Wait for the video to encode.
Plug your iPod into the USB port of your computer. Open iTunes and wait for the iPod icon to mount on the left side of the iTunes window.
Go back to your editing software and save the file to your desktop with a new name, like 'Final Video.' Drag the video from the desktop to iTunes and wait for it to upload to the video folder.
Drag the video from the video folder of iTunes to the video folder of your iPod. Wait for it to transfer over.
Eject your iPod from your computer and scroll through to make sure the video transferred successfully.

How to Prevent the Rearrangement of Icons on an iPhone

Jailbreak your phone. There is no utility available within the iPhone itself that allows icons to be locked. There is also no available app on the App Store that provides this functionality. However, if you jailbreak your phone, you will have access to apps that will provide you with this feature. Despite the name, jailbreaking an iPhone is not illegal.
Download Springlocker or Lockdown from Cydia. As new apps are constantly being released, there may be other apps that can provide this feature in the future. As of November 2010, these are the two programs that will enable you to lock your icons.
Go into the 'Settings' of your iPhone if you installed Springlocker. There will be a Spring Locker option that gives you the ability to turn 'Lock Icons' on or off. Turn it on to prevent your icons from being accidentally moved or deleted in the future.
If you installed Lockdown, you can stop icons from being moved, and you can also stop them from being opened if you want to restrict access to certain apps on your phone. You can access this feature through the 'settings' on your iPhone. You must turn the 'Lock Icon Placement' option to 'On' to prevent icons from being rearranged.

How to Sync a MacBook Pro With an iPad (6 Steps)

Connect the iPad and the MacBook Pro using the USB cable included with the tablet. If the MacBook has a compatible version of iTunes installed, it opens automatically. If it has an older version of iTunes, update it by clicking the 'Help' menu and selecting 'Check for Updates.'
Click the 'Continue' button when the iPad welcome screen appears. This first-time setup sets your syncing preferences for use during future connections. Read the software license agreement and click 'Continue' again.
Enter your Apple ID and associated password in the provided boxes. This links your iTunes account to the iPad, and allows you to transfer purchased media and make new purchases directly on the device. To create a new Apple ID, click the 'I do not have an Apple ID' radio button to set one up. Click 'Continue.'
Leave the 'Set up as new iPad' radio button selected and click on 'Continue.' Enter a title for the iPad in the 'Name' box and check the boxes below to automatically sync songs, photos and applications as desired. If you do not choose to sync information automatically, you can still manually add that type of media to the iPad. Click 'Done' to exit setup.
Wait for the first sync process to finish. This may take some time depending on the size of your media library. If you did not choose any automatic syncing options or left some media types unsynchronized, you can add specific items to the device by dragging files from the iTunes library over the iPad's icon in the left frame.
Click 'Eject' when finished and disconnect the iPad from the MacBook Pro. The device syncs again when reconnected.
