How to Use a DVD

Open the DVD drive on your computer. You can see there is a small tray indentation for mini discs. Place the DVD-R 8cm onto the mini tray and close the drive. In a moment the content on the disc loads onto your screen.
Access content on the DVD whenever you want by clicking 'Start,' (My) 'Computer,' and double-click the DVD drive icon. This opens a window with all the programs and files currently stored on the disc. This is typically how you access video footage created with DVD video cameras.
Launch the DVD burning program on your computer. You can still use a DVD-R 8cm to create data and video DVDs, however you can only hold about a third of the actual data that a standard sized DVD can hold.
Eject the DVD from the computer by pressing the 'Eject' button. When the DVD tray opens remove the mini DVD from the computer.

How to Bypass MacBook Passwords

Determine how many administrator and user accounts are on the MacBook. If the computer is booted up, select 'System Preferences' from under the apple in the upper left corner of the screen and click on 'Accounts.' Note that you really only need to bypass the administrator password, as standard user accounts are all controlled by the administrator. If you are unable to boot the computer due to a password, proceed to Step 2.
Insert a Mac OS X installation disc into your MacBook's drive. Select 'Restart' from under the apple in the upper left corner of the screen. When the computer begins the boot process (as soon as the screen becomes active), hold down the 'C' key until you see the spinning wheel on the screen.

Click on the arrow in the lower right corner of the window to proceed. (Note that the startup process takes longer when you're booting off an installation disc.) When the menus appear at the top of the screen, select 'Reset Password' from under the 'Utilities' menu.
Select the account whose passwords you want to bypass. If there are multiple user accounts, you will have to change them one by one and repeat the process for each account. Write down the passwords and remember that they're case sensitive, so check your Caps Lock key. You can also opt to leave the password field blank, meaning you don't enter anything in the field when it appears.

Quit the Password Utility and then quit the installer. You will be prompted to make one of three choices here, so select 'Restart' at this point. As soon as the MacBook reboots, hold down the track-pad button (or mouse button) to force the computer to eject the disc upon startup.

Open the Keychain utility (found in Applications>Utilities) to determine if there are any other passwords that you need to know and/or change. By knowing the administrator password, you can access every password stored in the Keychain. To learn the passwords of these items, simply click on the item in the list of the Keychain. You will be prompted to enter the administrator password (as created in Step 4) and clicking on 'Allow.'

How to Transfer From a PC to an iMac

Write down a list of applications you can't do without. In many cases, you will need to find a different program, since many Windows PC programs aren't made for the iMac. Making this list ahead of time allows you to purchase software you need when you purchase your iMac, which will cut down on the time it takes to get your new computer environment up and running. Many programs, such as Microsoft Office, have a version for Mac. In most cases, Mac has a suitable replacement program for just about any Windows software you need.
Back up all of your important files on a CD-R. Burn them onto a disc from your PC before you begin setting up on your iMac. This includes any documents, images, or music you will want to transfer. IMac reads all the common files that a PC can read, including text, rich text, JPEG, MP3 and PDF files. You will be able to transfer those files directly. If you have Microsoft Word or Excel files, Apple's iWork will read and write these files, although the software will need to be purchased separately (unless you purchase Microsoft Office for Mac).
Open 'Finder' on your iMac, click the 'Task' button located along the top of the window, and click 'New Folder' to create folders with the same names you're familiar with on your PC. Many of the same default folders already exist on the iMac, including 'Pictures,' 'Movies' and 'Music.'
Insert the disc that contains all of your backed up documents, images and music files from your PC. The disc will open automatically. Select the files using the holding down the 'Shift' key and clicking the files you want to move. Open the appropriate folder in 'Finder' and drag your files to the folder.
Check all of your files to ensure they can be opened on your iMac and edited. Make a list of those that you can't access (the list will be limited). Install any software on your iMac you need to get back into working on your computer without disruption.
