How to Display Notes While Presenting (8 Steps)

Start your computer and open the PowerPoint application. Click the 'File' tab at the top of the PowerPoint window and select 'Open.' Select the presentation slideshow that you have prepared. Plug in your computer to the separate monitor or projector that you will use during your presentation.
Click the 'Slide Show' tab in the PowerPoint Ribbon, and select 'Use Presenter View' in the Monitors group. Wait for the 'Display Settings' dialog box to appear, click on the 'Monitors' tab and choose the monitor icon that you want to use during your presentation to view your speaker notes. Select the check box which is labeled 'This is my main monitor.'
Click the monitor icon for the secondary monitor, which will be viewed by your audience. Select the check box which says 'Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor' and click the 'OK' button on the dialog box.
View the different monitors to make sure that the presentation notes are visible on your screen but not on the projected screen or monitor that your audience will see. Look in the 'Slide Show' tab of the Ribbon, in the Monitors group; the monitor icon that represents your audience's view of the presentation should appear in the 'Show On' list.
