How to Get Your Screen to Flip Sideways on the iPad

Tap the 'Settings' icon on the main screen of the iPad.
Tap 'General' on the left side of the screen. Press 'Lock Rotation' under 'Use Side Switch to.' Press your home button.
Slide the side switch to the down position. This will unlock the screen so it rotates.
Turn the iPad horizontally or vertically, depending on what you want.
