How to Set Up a Server for a Mac
Install the hard drives in the server Mac. Mac Pros have four hard drive bays, so you can set up a variety of combinations. To use it as both a data server and a backup server, install two independent hard drives and two RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) hard drives. The separate hard drives will be used for central data storage--things like photo collections--while the RAID drives will back up the system.
Install the RAID card into the Mac Pro. This will allow two of the hard drives to mirror each other, thus creating redundancy in data backup. Everything stored on one of the hard drives also will be stored on the other, so if one fails or develops a fault, the other will keep your data safe.
Set up the network. Macs usually have Airport Extreme (just Airport on older Macs) cards in them already. Mac Pros offer it as an option during purchase, but you can add one later, too. You will need a wireless router. Apple's Airport works best, but you can use less expensive models, such as those made by Belkin. Some routers don't work as well with Macs, such as Linksys and Netgear. If you have one of these already, try it, but if you don't, go with an Airport or Belkin.
Install Mac OS X Server software on the Mac Pro. Once installed, you can set up user groups, determine access and create the server itself using the two independent hard drives. You can add new Macs as you acquire them and give them access to the central data in the server.
Use Time Machine as your backup software for the server. Time Machine started shipping with Mac OS X 10.5, Leopard, and continues to ship with Mac OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard. It's a very basic backup program that will activate when you tell it to and only back up what's new on the system. You can set it up for different times on each Mac, so they don't conflict.

How to Transfer Music From a MacBook to the Android
Turn on your phone and your MacBook.
Use a USB cable to connect your smartphone to the MacBook. The USB end of the cable will fit into the computer, while the smaller end will go into the phone.
Wait for the 'Connect to PC' prompt to appear on your phone. Select the option labeled 'Disk Drive' and press 'Done.' This will allow your phone's internal storage and memory card to be modified by the computer.
Open at least two windows within the Mac Finder. One window should display the phone's internal storage or memory, and the second window should display your music collection on your MacBook.
Select the songs you want to copy onto your Android phone from the MacBook Finder window. Drag these files onto the smartphone's Finder window. A file transfer progress bar will be displayed. When the progress bar disappears, your songs will be transferred from the MacBook onto your Android phone.

How to Use an iPad as a Writing Tool
Dock the iPad on to the add-on external keyboard for typing articles, press releases, reports, and other documents. The keyboard has an easy to use port and the iPad sits right on top.
Use the Pages word processing program to create, edit, save, and print documents. Files can be saved to and printed from the iPad. This word processing program is a full featured program with cut, copy, paste and formatting capabilities.
Backup the files created on the iPad daily by emailing files to a business or personal email to transfer to another computer or thumb drive. The iPad lacks USB ports and other connectivity to other computers or other external storage devices , making emailing files to other computers the fastest and most secure way to transfer files.
Use the PrintCentral program to print files. The iPad lacks a standard print function so users need to download a print management app such as PrintCentral to be able to print documents, photos, or Web content from the iPad.
Use the Calendar program to manage a writing schedule, interview dates, media calendars, deadlines, and other events.
Create to-do lists and reminder post-its that can be displayed on the opening screen of the iPad. Use the Corkit program to create and save post-it notes as a jpg file. Use the Settings app on the iPad desktop to change the wallpaper daily to put up the new post-it screen.
Use the Safari app to conduct on-line research to include in press releases or articles.
Create a photo slide-show of writing clips and photography samples to quickly show potential clients samples of your work. Public relations writers can scan printed writing clips, press releases or other promotional materials to PDF or JPG. files and save to a desktop or laptop computer that has a copy of iTunes downloaded to it. Sync the iPad with iTunes on the desktop computer to transfer scanned files and photos to the iPad.
Use the Evernote app to enter and manage public relations and writing projects. You can enter URLs from your Internet research, photos, graphics, and many other elements that belong to a particular writing project into individual notebook like folders. This program will also sync to a regular computer so that all of the project files can be transferred for backup purposes to another storage device.
