How to Prevent MacBooks From Being Hacked (4 Steps)

Click 'System Preferences' on the desktop dock, and click 'Security.' Alternately, click 'Apple' at the top of the desktop screen, click 'System Preferences' and click 'Security.'
Click 'Start' in the firewall section to enable the laptop's firewall, and click the checkbox next to 'Block all incoming connections.' Alternately, click 'Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections.' The latter option protects your computer and is a little less rigid than blocking all incoming connections.
Click 'Advanced' and click 'Enable Stealth Mode.' Click 'Advanced' to apply stealth mode, and return to the main System Preferences window.
Click 'Sharing' and de-select the checkbox next to 'File Sharing.' Close out of the window to apply the settings and exit.
