How to Exit Mail on iPad (5 Steps)

Tap the 'Mail' icon on the iPad home screen to launch the email app.
Read, write or send email messages.
Press the 'Home' button to exit the Mail app and return to the home screen.
Press the 'Home' button twice to bring up the iPad's list of recently used apps. Press and hold the 'Mail' app icon until all the app icons start jiggling. A red circle with a minus sign appears in the top left corner of each app's icon.
Tap the minus sign on the Mail app icon to remove it from the multitasking bar. This quits the Mail app. Press the 'Home' button once to stop the other app icons from jiggling and hide the list of recent apps.
