How to Upload Pictures Onto a Mac (5 Steps)
Configure your iPhoto software so it will open automatically when your camera or card reader is connected to the computer. Click 'Finder,' which is the square blue icon on your dock or desktop. On the left, choose 'Applications' and then 'iPhoto.'

Open the iPhoto application, then go to the menu bar at the top left. Click 'iPhoto' for a drop-down menu . Click 'Preferences' and then 'General' within the dialog box. At the bottom, find 'Connecting Camera Opens' Click the arrow on its right for another drop-down menu and click 'iPhoto.'
Connect your camera or card reader to the computer. If using a card reader, open the camera compartment, remove the card and transfer it to the card reader.
Open iPhoto and then click 'Import Photos.' Choose whether to save or delete the photos on the camera once they're uploaded to iPhoto.
Locate your saved pictures in the iPhoto application by clicking the 'Last Import' link on the left under 'Recent.' Use the toolbar below to edit, email or share them through Facebook or other sites.
